Despite the fact that the disgusting GeForce Partner Program was killed off by NVIDIA earlier this month, it seems the effects are still being felt. PC World is reporting that MSI is launching a new AMD exclusive brand dubbed the "MECH 2." The article states that the card appears to slot in between the affordable Armor line, and MSI's high-end "gaming" line of GPUs, and the RX and RX 580 MECH 2 cards should be launching in July.

Makes you wonder how long GPP was in the works before we found out about it. For several companies to come up with all new branding for cards has to take more time than the 2 months it has been since @Kyle_Bennet broke the story. Depressing that we are still seeing its effects.

The upstart Radeon brands appear here to stay. The real question: Will top-shelf brands like ROG and Gaming X continue to fly the AMD flag in the future? If not, the spirit of the GeForce Partner Program will live on even if it’s technically dead. Stay tuned.

Since we can't count on integrity from the partners maybe some sites can start grouping all these re-brands in an easy for average consumers to find.

likely to be overpriced and less likely to be "good" as far as the cooler is concerned IMO

from all I have read the Armor cooler version is absolute crap on Radeons (seems to be ok for Ngreedia, maybe because it was built for Geforce wattage output or MSI decided to not bother making sure it would properly cool the Radeons to "upsell" the Gaming/Gaming X, got told by Nv to make sure the Radeons "appear worse" which would not surprise me given that GPP was not that long after the "newer generation" GPU started being released, you know, right around the time Nv was having "record profits" 2+ years in a row ?.

Armor MK 2 (no idea, but it does look real spiffy if anything else)

Gaming and Gaming X are supposedly very good Radeon or Geforce, now if it has more in line design wise with the Gaming X instead of Armor/Armor MK 2 this is "ok" for this Mech 2, but, they (the sellers) really need to get a handle on pricing of GPU IMO (especially seeing as it has been over 1-2 years now after Radeon 4xx/5xx was launched (june 2016 and april 2017 more so with GTX 1xxx generation roundabout 2 years may 2016)

--------------------------------------------
----------------------
pricing was supposed to be "stabilized" in March/April 2018 for Radeon or Geforce, seems that Geforce has been "more or less" close to stablized to match with what MSRP should have been by this time, not so much for the Radeons...the extra fancy versions such as Asus "expedition" or the MSI Armor MK 2 are even more pricey than the "first versions" especially here in Canada, USD stock and pricing seems to be "more stable" and closer to actual MSRP/Release pricing NOW than say 4-5 months ago not so much with CAD .

Hard to want to buy a new system with no damn gpu to place into it without having to sell both kidneys to get er done.
---------------------------------------------
----------------------
RX 570 was always supposed to be less costly than RX 580, the 4gb and 8gb of these even more so price differential, but it seems the "sellers" are either getting royally shafted, or they want to royally shaft the buyers, often enough actually pricing RX 570 HIGHER....lets not forget because they are not selling enough of them (I doubt it) they have trickled the price shafting to the lower range product such as RX 550-560 ~$20-$50 more than ever should have been

put another way, RX 570-580 4/8gb should have been ~$228-$290 (CAD..USD $169-$229) where they currently are selling in the range of $350-$700 (which is beyond horseshit, and you are very very lucky to find any but the ones people avoid like the plague going by buyers remorse/reviews)

Would not surprise me if GPP is still running in some form or other.

Just because Nvidia says they shut it down doesn't mean they did fully......

I'd just see it as a glaring fact that corporations lie more often than not about their internal motives & machinations.

Good points brought up here. Products typically take a year+ before any type of media is released to promote them, so this was in the works for quite some time.

They can call it whatever they want. Shit is still shit.

I tend to fall into the group that would prefer more options, than less options but if you wanna slam something that a lot of people can't really afford while trying to make rent, food, kids, ect, that's your shtick. There's a price point for everyone that buys a graphics card, and that's where they spend their money. If they have a 1080 display, what's so shit about it? Please enlighten me.

The effects of GPP will last for years if not forever. Just as my ban on Nvidia.

MSI, ASUS, GIGABYTE... did not band together, did not grow a spine and fight.... I understand why I simply wont accept it.

Ill follow closely how the different brands handle this in the future... but if they keep with this crap ill avoid their products in the future.

I am sick of the sociopaths that made for us a world of monopolies, duopolies, and collusion.

I came here to say the same.
It makes you wonder how much of GPP still exists but is now only verbal.
NVidia can still change product allocation etc in a way that appears plausible if they dont get what they want.

Its understandable that investment in product changes already made will likely come to market but this demonstrates there needs to be better oversight of anti-competitive companies so it doesnt get this far.
They arent going to stop so they need close monitoring with viable deterrents that work fast.

Is there any solid proof that this is a result of GPP or is this just more nvidia bashing/AMD shilling? A little journalist integrity would be nice.

I would think the proof will be if the MSI gpu lines stay split, AMD and NVIDIA. If you're looking for the 'smoking gun' memos from MSI, doubt you'll get that.

LOL! Yeah, that must be it, [H] is an AMD shilling site. :D :ROFLMAO: If you are not going to accept the fact that Nvidia has done what they have done, they nothing anyone says is going to convince you otherwise. Enjoy........

Oops, nevermind, I ended up thinking of a different post. You are correct, his comment is clueless.

I would have taken the time to argue your ummm..."points" but i read your sig and realized that AMD has already gaped you, thus i wont bother.

What points? From what I could see, you did not have any points, other then what I said above. Oh well, enjoy. :)

amd cards disappear everywhere, suddenly shows up under new name.
hmm...

this is nothing but 1+1 math for first graders, there are a few aspects of nvidia I strongly dislike but they do make great hardware and amd better step up to maybe put nvidia a bit in place just like they did with Intel.

If just AMD stopped being childish with their chipset naming o.0

so whats the diff between AMD and NVIDIA marketing tactic of exclusivity? (other than AMD being far more amateurish and confusing)

Seriously? Show me where XFX, Sapphire and other AMD exclusive resellers were told they could not sell Nvidia, period? GPP was and is a bad thing, anti competitive and the results are still coming in. Also, in regards to that last statement...…. :rolleyes:o_O (Full...……..)

I don't seriously know how much more you need. They had their own blog pulling the plug on their web site, Jensen Huang, basically lies to Toshiya Hari, Goldman Sachs analyst, saying the 'ecosystem' loved GPP, NV really offered no clearly or transparency about GPP, and now we have AMD cards running under new marketing brands.

Tell you what I know that air exists. But you can't see, touch, smell or taste it. Please go take a few breaths in a vacuum. We'll all be better off for it.

That is too much math for him.

Well, that's great. That's just fuckin' great, man! Now what the fuck are we supposed to do? We're in some real pretty shit now, man!

Tell us in the contract (that NO ONE has released in its entirety) that GPP required that AIBs cannot sell AMD cards. I swear i beginning to think that other forums claiming [H] to be a laughing stock in the tech community are actually right.

How does "please rebrand AMD cards or Nvidia cards to eliminate confusion" translates to "You can't offer/sell AMD tech in any capacity"

How do you muster the ability to walk and blink at the same time with collective intellect of a bag of toenail clippings?

Why don't you contact nvidia and tell them to remove the nda from all the companies so they can talk. Oh wait I see in your hardware you are chewing down the nvidia bias train.

Clearly, I have no idea why you are responding to a post that has nothing to do with what you are talking about. Therefore, what you just said has no effect on anything you where speaking of earlier. Oh well, guess you are going to be stuck in your circular thinking, enjoy, I am done.

You deserve a gold medal for a statement like that. Not everyone can afford the absolute best of the best so they settle on what gets them by and makes them happy. Hence the setup in my signature.

If u think it's a laughing stock, what are you still doing here? Delete your account and go elsewhere.

So, as consumers we were used to buying a known quantity such as ROG cards because we liked the OCing and cooling solutions, they had good reviews and priced competitively. So now we are supposed to wait for a new untested brand and hope it is good enough because you are confused about what you are buying? AMD is supposed to be pigeon-holed into a new brand no one has heard of, don't know if the team building it is as accomplished as the current established brand and then if it isn't as good as the previous brand, then what are we supposed to do? Just stop buying AMD cards because they don't get the proper attention?(I think I know your pompous response to that) They get extra dollars to promote Nvidia, dollars that would most likely go into ROG, Aorus, etc, meaning less R&D for AMD and most likely inferior options in cooling/overclocking. No, the proper response is to let the companies know we don't like this situation. It is no different when a customer complains about any product and provides feedback.

"MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, don't change AMD card to a different brand because we like what we were getting with your established brands. You continue down this path we will move to XFX, Sapphire or Powercolor and not just in video cards."

As far as your last comment, what an ahole.

But of course people that already liked what they are getting are just idiots for wanting to keep that option. Yes we are gaining a new brand but we are also losing an established brand. Consider yourself enlightened.
