Because of ego & greed, microsoft has perfected the art of taking any idea, and somehow making it shittier. Operating systems that rot, programs that spy on you, take your private data, are incompatible with their own previous products, the list just goes on and on, and then they call it a feature.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize email was so fucking horrible that we had to switch to another system just to get someone to perform a task.

Not THAT long ago, my (previous) employer used Microsoft Communicator (MOC), which then became Lync, which was replace by Skype for Business.... except now file transfers almost never work. Voice chat and video chat will just lock up at random... full screen sharing works but sharing just one window causes freezes and drops. I mean, yeah... how did MS take perfectly function apps and turn them into... oh wait never mind.... "progress".

Email =/= audio / video / screen sharing / sharing system control for support / conferencing. Teams seems to do all those quite well, but MS is updating it so rapidly for the cloud and O365 stuff that it's probably a bit buggier than I'd like, though I don't use it myself enough to say. I can say the 50+ users of it that I support seem to like it compared to GoToMeeting and other similar corporate solutions for those needs. GoToMeeting (and Citrix in general, who owns it) are particularly crappy, and what's funny is it costs WAY more on top of that!

I hate to be the one defending MS here, but pssst... Google invented the user data selling and had mastered it long before MS followed suit, and Apple (macOS, not iOS) has all those same problems and more. I support about half Mac and half Windows clients... guess who I spend FAR more time with on supporting them to work around bugs and missing/outdated/broken features (and it's not usually even their fault - AKA "user error")?
 
What are you IT guys thinking of Microsoft Teams? I think it'll more or less replace Skype for Business in couple of years as the go-to program in businesses, works a little more like Discord with the groups (aka channels in other apps) except it still feels more like a beta product as there's probably lot of options missing still and is a bit clutterish UI-wise but I kind of like having all things you possibly could need as far as communicating, meeting, project work/file sharing goes in one place. We just migrated to Teams from having used Lync / Skype for quite a few years.
