Official Rage 2 Announce Trailer

I don't think rage sucked, it was just... Broken? Good concept, lackluster execution.

It has been forever since I played it though.
From what I remember it was a glitchy game that was something you could finish in a day, and you did a lot of driving. Been a long time since I played it, but that's what I remember.

Heard of the first game but never played it or seen anything about it so no idea what the series is about.

What the hell did I just watch? Looked like cosplay gone maniac. Kinda liked it...

yeah, at work watching without sound it just looked like a bunch of people losing their minds.

Rage was glitchy and downright broken when it first came out and they never did fix it totally. That said I bought it on a Steam sale for a song and it was actually a lot of fun to play despite the occasional bug. I'll definitely be interested in a sequel and ya gotta think they'll have it squared away when they release it after the debacle from the first one.

Ugh, I don't like CGI/Live action trailers for games like this. It has little to do with the end product, doesn't tell a story, and just seems like a waste of money.

What I hope they do is put out is a brilliant intro they can use as a trailer, like this:

I played Rage on XB360 and actually enjoyed it. Tried it on the PC and it seemed a bit buggy.

Looks like they tried too hard but not hard enough with that "trailer".

*EDIT* Ok so apparently this one is being developed by Avalanche Studios, aka Mad Max people. Interesting.

It is probably Mad Max 2, but funny this time?

LOL what the actual fuck? How did Avalanche get stuck with making this instead of Mad Max 2?

I mean, seriously, Mad Max was amazing...RAGE was not. What assbackwards sequel making. Well, I'm still hopeful for a Mad Max 2, the first is easily in my top 10 of all time.

yeah that seems about right, I remember the driving thinking 'wtf, get this shit out of here' and then climbing some towers full of raiders and mutants thinking 'more of this please'.

To expand on what i said, I think there is a good game in there somewhere, with a more fleshed out system, and the right decisions on content. The reality is, do we really need another post apocalypse shooter franchise? I think its a pretty locked down genre at the moment between Borderlands and Fallout.

Well if there was a way to make Rage worse, this would be it.

I thought the first one was pretty good.

So far the Id games made by Bethesda have been okay (Quake would be better if they took the hero stuff out of it), so I am willing to keep an eye on this for a while.

I bought Rage a few years after release and the texture popping seemed to be largely resolved, though it was still more noticeable than in other larger open-world games. The driving wasn't particularly fun, but the gameplay and locations were great. IIRC it had pleasant shooter mechanics, and the locations, while completely linear, were still a lot of fun and quite a few made me stop and look around just to enjoy the scenery. The world building wasn't all that unique, but the art direction and architecture really were quite good.

The ending though... It's really an awful ending. It just up and stops out of the blue. Like you know you're on the final mission or close to it and then -the end- and that's it. I wasn't pissed by the end (top award for that goes to Mass Effect 3) as much as I was just really confused.

Its a terrible game. That id would need invisible walls for the first time kinda defines its lameness. I will never buy an id game for full price again. Before that I always paid full price on the release day That's how I feel about rage.

there has not been a FPS with an enjoyable driving aspect is a long time, so if Avalanche pulls this off they will have my money.
and no, I don't consider Mad Max anything but brain dead button mashing.

I dunno, still wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being a Battle Royale-style game.

More Borderlands 2-style gameplay I'd be okay with, though.

Definitely thought "online game" before the end of the trailer. I liked the first game to some extent, I'll probably buy this one on sale if it's offline or has a good enough offline campaign.

Well, that was odd.

Rage is certainly in the "I'll wait for a review first" list, but iD has been doing much better "F the story, shooting is cool" games lately, and I appreciate that.

The fuck you talkin about? Avalanche is a great developer. Maker of classics.

You missed out then with that limited view. Go tell that to all the reviews on Steam or everyone I know that loved the game. One of my top 10 yet you say it sucks. What do you consider good games in the genre then?

Rage's gameplay was pretty good and the game itself was good. Too bad this is a new quake singleplayer though.

Maybe they are, I'm just saying the trailer looks really stupid. I have a feeling it's going to be super animated, colorful, and over-the-top. Like a first person version of Sunset Overdrive set in a post apocalyptic world. I hope I'm wrong.

You have to remember that the first game was "a failure" so Bethesda is going to try to completely reinvent the theme and by the look of the trailer, boy are they trying hard.

That was basically just a bad music video...I'm sure there were many good reasons for them to spend money on that instead of showing us some cool actual gameplay to get the hype train started.
