Intel has uploaded the product brief for its upcoming Z390 chipset, which will maximize the potential of its latest unlocked processors. According to VideoCardz, there appears to be no real differences between the Z390 and Z370 chipsets aside from onboard Wireless-AC and Bluetooth 5.

There are no changes to the number of PCIe lanes or memory support. There is, however, a change to USB 3.1 support. The Z390 supports Gen2 while Z370 only Gen1. The appearance of Z390 on Intel website could further confirm that the launch is close, maybe even sooner than we thought. It might be worth watching Intel’s CEO keynote at Computex.

could this mean the rumors about the amd 490 chipset also be real?

Up to six built in USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports native, no need for another brand controller chip.

Bah missed the line since it wasnt highlighted in yellow like the Wifi/Bluetooth.

Watch mobo manufacturers only include 1 port on the back, i guarantee it.

Seems like they'd miss their price point if they only include one port, then add a second controller. But, seems any company can screw something up.

Intel could add onboard support for a thousand USB 3 Gen 2 ports, but unless the DMI link's bandwidth is massively expanded it's just going to make bottlenecks more likely.

And of course my very first post-haswell setup, a Z370/i5-8400 arrived Saturday. Already outdated...

I don't want more USBs. I want more PCIe lanes (please make all 16x slots full 16x lanes, not gimped x8 x8 x4)
