Amazon released their earnings report yesterday and it showed that net sales increased by 43% over the first quarter of last year. This just shows that Amazon isn't resting on their laurels and it's actively growing all parts of their business. One thing of note is the fact that 73% of operating income was a result of Amazon Web Services. This makes them the top dog of cloud services and everything else that they do is just a sideline business. The bottom line is that Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world and AWS is putting him there. Read the PR here.

AWS, the company's cloud services division, outpaced Amazon.com's overall growth with $5.4bn in revenue, up 49 per cent from the $3.7bn reported for the year-ago quarter. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos – the world's richest person with a net worth of $112bn – in a statement attributed AWS' success the seven years it had to figure things out before serious competition arrived.

No one ever said the cloud was not the way to go. Scary thing is this company already has everyone's finance info from their website...If they ever fault everyone on the planet take a fall....These companies are really to big. Let me adjust my tin foil hat....

Don't worry. I heard that if you're too big to fail, you can get a bailout.

And Amazon has secret contracts with the CIA that happened under the past administration. I am not going to be surprised when Bezos moves into a hollowed out volcano and puts lasers on his pet sharks.

Every time that Jeff Bezos has talked about his dealings with the CIA, he has gushed over them and said how he wants to strengthen his working partnership with them. And the integration of the CIA into Bezos projects has correspondingly increased over the years. Washington Post is a CIA megaphone, and Amazon handles a secret cloud data-hosting network for the CIA. I expect that all telemetry that Amazon gathers on its customers goes straight into CIA servers.

I also think it's entirely plausible that Bezos is a CIA operative, himself. Aside from his long-time and continued business integration with the CIA, Bezos excelled throughout his schooling and thereafter. The CIA scouts for and recruits people of high scholastic performance:

Bezos already had experience with building computer networks since early on in his career, and he said he always planned to branch Amazon out from selling books to other products. Who knows: Maybe he was working though a script CIA the whole time to create a network to act like a god-view of society.

I'm sure Superman will eventually show up to stop him.

His evolution from Wall Street nerd to Lex Luther has been interesting, to say the least.

Increases sales by 43% & they raise Prime subs to $119? Makes perfect sense!

OMG what is the hate over raising the price of amazon prime? I think it's still a good value and worth it for the amazon video alone. Most monthly bills are at least 100 dollars, so what's 119 dollars for a whole year?

Amazon video sucks. Ever heard of the old Frog in the frying pan fable?

Amazon Video has a long, long way to go to catch up to Netflix...most Amazon originals don't have the buzz or appeal of the most popular Netflix ones (Stranger Things, Marvel shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, Altered Carbon etc)...Amazon seems to be going all in with their Lord of the Rings TV show...they probably need to raise Amazon Prime subs to $150/yr to fund that alone

Hopefully (most) people have got more cognitive reasoning than a frog.

If it's not worth it, stop the subscription.
