How much is an old Google Pixel phone worth? Treefiddy? Na, not that much. Over at w00t you can grab one for as little as $200. I still own the first Pixel I bought, and that is a hell of a deal. Thanks cageymaru.

Pixels are kind of like Legos. On their own, they're not that impressive. But stick a whole bunch of them together and you've got a beautiful picture. Or a rocket ship. (That's where pixels and Legos differ.) These Google Pixel Smartphones are also a little like Legos. On their own, they aren't much to look at. But when you connect a whole bunch of them together over a wireless network, it's a whole different story. You still can't use them to make a rocket ship, though. Sorry.

Was kinda excited to see this deal but scratch and dent means no go for me.

I have a Nexus 6P that has the 50% battery bug... it shuts down even with 1/2 charge left already tried all the calibrations/troubleshooting etc, neither Google nor Huawai want to take responsibility. I don't need anything super fancy or big, but I'm pissed its looking like I'll have to spend another 200-250 on something like a Moto X4 just to be able to untether my phone or ever be able to rely on it as an alarm clock.

Love my Pixel... I'm almost tempted to bite on this for a backup. It's a gamble. Arguably though, all cell phones are a gamble.

Go hit up xda-developers, bet there's a fix for it there.

Nah, you have to replace the battery. I did when my 6P was doing the same thing and it was like new again and back up to 4-5 hours SoT in a charge.. for another 9 months before it started doing it again and I traded it for my current Pixel 2 XL. Seems Huawei couldn't source quality batteries for that phone for some reason. But at least it's really not that hard to replace the battery on that phone unlike a lot of newer phones with glass backs. Here's the link to the battery I got, only $10 and took me maybe 45 mins to replace with the crappy tools that came with the battery and a razer blade and heat gun (or use a hair dryer) to remove the back camera glass panel (hardest part, but not hard, just be careful). Look up vids on Youtube to see the easiest way, but once you get the housing off the phone, the battery is pretty much ready to pull out.

I had a 128GB Pixel, and dropped it and broke the screen. It was a great phone. I loved it, but I didn't think I could get it repaired. So, I bought a 64GB Pixel 2 to replace it. Again, great phone, and even better than the first. Then I learned I could get the screen replaced. So, my original Pixel is now my backup phone, in case anything happens to my Pixel 2.

Thanks for the link - might have to give this a spin. While part of me would like a newer/smaller phone... (6P is a bit too big for my tastes) I just don't feel like spending 200+ dollars right now. I'd rather wait a year and let a new generation come out before I go spending big bucks again.

Scratch and Dent + Bootloops? Nah.

You are mistaking the Nexus 5x (which boot looped on me) and other LG produced phones.

I have the Pixel (HTC) now and I haven't seen any boot loops reported. It has other issues, but this isn't one of them.

$250 for a 128gb Pixel XL? Seems like very hot deal to me.

Locals here in Kansas City are trying to get $350 to $450 for these same phones. I know, I tried to upgrade to a Pixel XL about a month ago from my 3 year old Google Nexus 6. Ended up just buying a new Pixel 2 XL for $550. Best $550 I've ever spent on a phone. In fact in only cost me $400 taking into account the $150 I got for my old Nexus 6.

Smoking deal for anyone needing a new phone. These have amazing camera's if anyone is wondering.

Thanks for the info. I noticed my Nexus 6P was randomly shutting down a while back and didn't realize it was a common problem until now. I bought the Nexus Protection from Google, but I'm about 6 months outside the coverage period, go figure. Wish I had this issue on my radar this time last year. The issue hasn't been a real problem until recently though. Now that it's becoming less of a random occurrence, it's becoming a full-blown annoyance. My educated guess is the battery is on the downward spiral. I need to keep the charge well above 50% just ensure my phone calls, etc. don't get disrupted.

I think I have the skills to do a battery swap, although if the new battery only last 9 months, then maybe I should just throw the towel in and chalk this up as a loss? That's an entirely depressing thought. I think I'll give Google support a go first, then go down this otherwise dark path if Google throws their hands up in the air. Tis a shame, as this phone (that I've kept in pristine shape) has been brilliant up until now.

For how easy it was to do (for me at least), I think it's definitely worth doing still for $10 and an hour at most for another 9+ months of good usage. The only reason I didn't do it the 2nd time again was that there were a couple good promos for the Pixel 2 XL that allowed me to get it for less than half off for the unlocked model on top of me selling my 64GB 6P for like $170. Otherwise yeah, the 6P was a great phone and I could have easily went another year or so with it if I needed to.

Google got back with me just now and gave me the out of warranty spiel (as I predicted). But Google were at least not callous about the whole 50% battery issue, certainly acknowledged it with my model, and then passed me on to Huawei with a "good luck". Needless to say, Huawei will "fix" this issue for a mere $165. Even throw in a 90 day warranty . So at this point, I'm leaning towards buying the $10 battery and doing it myself. I've got a co-worker who repairs microelectronics, so I might pay him to do it. Either way, I better come up with a backup plan.

At least I'm not in a hurry...

I was in the same boat as you with a 6p. Bought a used Lenovo P2 for around 140eur. Best thing ever - cheap, so I don't need to be afraid of droppig it, nearly stock android, fast enough and, to top it off, 2-3x the amount of battery life of when my p6 was new (so around 2-3 days).
Not going back to flagships ever, someone else can be the guinea pig and spend hundreds on a phone...
