Serious Sam 4

they still seem to use those terrible, terrrible enemy models after all these years, shame.

I know a guy on steam that really likes the series except for the 1st game they are all mind numbing I think its a duke nukem clone by cro team more than anything.

I loved #3, didn't care too much for the earlier ones, though I did play a huge chunk of the first.

I Really, REALLY want to see what they do with a sequel, but they seem to be using SS3 assets? I mean, graphics aren't everything but that definitely looks like a 2011 game.

If it's a choice between ultra high detail assets and enormous hordes of enemies (as hinted at at the end of the teaser), I'll take the latter. It's not like SS is about standing still long enough to critique model resolution.
Although I do hope there's a level where Sam ends up in The Talos Principle.

This! SS has always been about quantity of shit on screen, not the quality of it.

^^ that exactly. And also besetting different types of enemies against you forcing quick decisions which to go after first, and when. Game aspects that others like Painkiller tried to emulate but just didn't attain the same feel.

Personally, I am hoping for more complex game play than stellar graphics. One thing I enjoyed about SS2 over earlier ones. Usable vehicles, weapon turrets, and more enemy classes.

I hope they modermize the game play. Mind you the original was a lot of fun but games have improved over time. I really liked farcry (1) type of gameplay (which I've not seen since).

Very excited to see what Croteam does with this next installment. The first SS is still my favorite.

only nukem-esque thing is the TUDE of Sam himself. other wise its nothing like duke nukem well other than being an FPS game.

Yeah, Sam is nothing like Duke.

Have to agree, although a modern look/gameplay would be cool, it’s all about hurling insanely large enemy hoardes at you all at once.

Next on my wish list is a new Unreal game (original Unreal, not Tournament). There’s something I miss about not having a crap ton of cutscenes and dialogue thrown in your face to force a story; I remember this about SS1 and Unreal the most. This is probably just due to technical feasibility back then, but I guess I just miss simpler times!

I loved First and Second Encounters, couldn't stand 2, and was relieved 3 was a return to form

Lets hope they keep up the good work

First was fun, second was awesome, 2 was blah, 3 was a fun romp. This looks good for a teaser. Co-op madness, cant wait.

As long as I don't have to swing on monkey bars, hug and hang from obvious riveted edges and walls and actually can move fast vice short little fart sprints, have plenty of ammo and enough guns to take out the hordes - I will be in heaven.

Maybe i'm just getting old, but just came across a youtube video for SS4. Uh, fantastic! SS3 was great return after a terrible SS2. Suprised this is not getting more attention. Need this yesterday.

Hope August is a true release date!

I don't know, for a game coming out next month, there sure isn't a lot of coverage...

Usually this happens when a publisher isn't happy with the final product and does not see it making much money and decides to reduce losses by saving money on marketing.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT this game to be at least as good as 3, but hopefully as much of a wacky blast as 1st and 2nd encounter. But I'm scared with all the lack of media info Devolver and Croteam have given this.

or the insane amount of money they put into marketing for SS3 showed that spending the money didn't improve sales.. after all it's a niche game for a niche player base, people that are likely to buy this game probably will buy it with or without the marketing.

my first PC game when I actually had a decent PC was the second encounter. Will always have a fond place in my heart.

Because it is still freaking riot to play. I play through fe and se at least once a quarter. Never gets old.

I realy wish this series had some cooler designed enemies as those made it so I never got into these.

Game is boring graphics look like first encounter might be good for 5 seconds.

Finally got around to buying SS4, which is now on patch 1.06. Little suprised still this is not getting more attention. Still feels like Sam, and it's still pretty entertaining to play with a buddy in co op. Tons of graphic options. They aren't on par with Doom Eternal, but really I don't think they are terrible. Personally having more fun with this than Doom Eternal.

How does the co-op compare to SS3?

Damn fun game, love the humor as well. This will probably be a 300hr game for me. Multiple playthroughs that is.

Still playing 1st time through co op. Just got the missile launcher upgrade as well as grenade launcher cluster bombs. Just fantastic weapons in this game. Suprised too in the server list, there are so few :(
