Exceptionally excited to see this announced this evening. I especially like that they mention an updated UI and an option for modern controls. Those are the two most dated aspects of these classics. Hopefully they get this released before Shenmue III, I'd love to replay them one more time before that comes.

Physical (consoles only) and digital will be $29.99. I'd say that's fair. Now they just need to tell us when it's coming.

One of the best games ever for the Dreamcast (RIP). It's up there along Jet Set Radio and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Capitalizing on Shenmue III. These wouldn't be coming out if it wasn't for the Kickstarter

So? It's probably one of the most requested titles in Sega's back catalog to be re-released. Prior to Shenmue III's announcement, they probably didn't consider it financially viable.

We need Power Stone!~

Powerstone would be great. Powerstone 2, with functional online play.... that would be amazing. Never gunna happen, but it would be nice. Dreamcast had so many good games, there are a ton that I'd be willing to rebuy just to play them in HD without the need for emulators.

Just saying. SEGA could have easily continued with Shenmue, but nope. They waited so god damn long until the creator finally got support via Sony and Kickstarter to make it happen. Now they're bringing Shenmue back out due to Shenmue III's pre order success, not because the entire fan base (including me) wanting the continuation of the series for a long time. I have my Kickstarter order in place for Shenmue III, hoping the story will be good.

I'll be glad to finally play through both games on PC. Every time I tried playing it, the Dreamcast controller wound up driving me nuts. I'm quite excited that that Shenmue 1, 2, & 3 (hopefully soon!) will be accessible natively on more powerful hardware.

I disagree. If you are a fan of the series, i'm sure you know that Shenmue was the most expensive game of it's time, reported to have been between $50-$70 million dollars. While I cannot find sales figures, I've seen it said many times that the game didn't come anywhere close to breaking even, let alone a profit. Shenmue II couldn't have been much better, between the limited Dreamcast release and the poorly received Xbox port. I am sure that by the time Shenmue II had run it's course, Sega had both lost money on the franchise and was shown that there was not much interest on a console other than Dreamcast. I am not surprised in the slightest that Sega decided to wash their hands of the series. Thus far it was just a money pit.

If Sega finally, nearly 20 years later, has a window where they might be able to turn a small profit on a series they lost their asses on before, who can blame them for that? I'm happy they finally have a shot to make money on Shenmue, even if it is riding on the coat tails of Shenmue III.
