I have some Amcrest wifi security cameras that take sd cards but support nas, I am wondering for a reasonable price what would be my best option. Amcrest also sells dvr's but I dont know if I should just buy a nas instead

As far as the actual drives storing the data, we do offer a line of drives specifically engineered for surveillance footage uses like DVR, NVR, & CCTV called the SkyHawk & SkyHawk AI. They come with firmware (dubbed ImagePerfect) which prioritizes writes most of the time to preserve picture quality while writing massive blocks of highly-detailed video data and minimizing dropped frames.

+1 on Blue Iris...hear a lot of good stuff but I am new at it my self

I bought one of those off-lease Dells that show up in Hot Deals from time to time that had an i7, put in a 4TB WD Purple drive , cheapo SSD for boot drive, and a decent power supply and installed Blue Iris software in it. I can not say enough good things about both, Blue Iris and Amcrest. I live in North Texas and these cameras have survived multiple hail storms and the hot texas summer without a single hiccup. I love the blue iris app on android and IOS as well. It takes about a week or so to fine tune Blue Iris to work exactly how you want it to, but once you're done, back-up your config file and just sit back and relax.
