World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

You could always just remove the captains and filter for captains only. Selling ships doesn't give good money and chances are WG will buff them eventually.

Don't need the silver right now. But if something comes up, it won't break my heart giving it up. I don't want to. I Love playing the damn ship but for me, a ship has to pay for itself during play. It's bad enough at T10 financials wise without this kind of crap.
 
WTH is it with the Harekaze?

On paper, this ship is a holy Terror. It's a T8 KamiKaze-R. It has everything going for it. Decent, 10k 62knot torps, guns that feel like the KamiKaze's, just a bit faster. Good speed, and that awesome 5.4k detection range.

But I can't do a god damn thing with it. Can't hit the broadside of a battleship. Something ALWAYS fucking goes wrong in this ship.

It's cursed!

I think it's only put into games where the red team has 4 radar ships or some shit.

Missouri - Dispersion and RNG has become fucking ridiculous.

Conqueror - HE nerfed? Yeah, yeah. I know. Whether it's an overpowered ship or not is not my question My question is DID they change it in 7.3?

Japanese destroyer Shimakaze's base concealment improved to 7.11 km (instead of 7.56), while with all the modifiers the number is 5.59 km (instead of 5.9 km). This allows her to spot most of the rivals first at her battle tier.

German cruiser Admiral Hipper received faster base rudder shift (9.2 s instead of 10.7 s) and faster main battery reload (11.5 s instead of 13). Both are true for Hulls "B" and "C". British battleship Orion had her sigma value decreased to 1.6 from 1.8. This is due to ships heightened efficiency at her tier, especially in the hands of seasoned players.

Plating increased from 25 mm to 32 mm, sigma value increased to that of the other tier X cruisers (2.05 instead of 1.8). My problem is not hitting ships with guns or Torpedo's. I can blow shit up as well as the next guy.

What I really struggle with is Map Strategy.

I try to follow along with every one else. Stay with the group. Safety in numbers, ya know.

But some guys seem to have a Vulcan understanding of these Maps, and where to go under 100 different circumstances, etc... I just don't get it. Where does one go to learn this stuff?

I watch nearly every video posted by Noster, Flamu, Flambass (who I still say is Flamu's evil twin brother LOL), Business, etc... Hell I even learn from Jingles, and get a dose of good humor in the process. I get what they are doing, but what I don't get is how the fuck they KNOW to do what they are doing.

I'm a pretty damn smart guy. I was an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist in the Navy. There was a time where I could take over a 600 foot Destroyer/Cruiser if the command crew got wiped out. No guarantee's we'd survive, but I had the basics :)

But this shit just baffles me.

One of the big problems is the lack of communications. I know voice chat has it's own problems, but god dammint I just don't have time to keep an eye on that little chat box, the mini map, and my typing under pressure is ludicrous.

I know working in Divisions is the best way to go, but it's hard to get in those if you aren't rich and famous WoWs captains.

I've tried the whole clan thing but have yet to have enough people in the clans I've tried to get into a single damn battle. Again, you have to be rich & famous Wows captains to get into the good one's.

I am perpetually stuck at 47% W/L ratio. That is, admittedly, my own fault. I came in during the open Beta, and for the first 3 months or so I played the game SO fucking wrong. I was set on diving in, killing what I can, and when I get killed exit out an go to the next ship. I was too centered on progressing up the ship levels instead of learning the mechanics of the game.

I haven't (mostly) played this way for at least a year and a half. Once I realized the err of my ways, I started paying the fuck attention.

Problem is, I was 3000 games deep into the game and my W/L ratio was shit. Now I'm paying for that. I can have a good day with 10 wins, 2 losses, and it makes a dent in my ratio,

Now I am an objective player. I seek whatever it takes to win the game. Fuck the XP. Fuck the Silver. WIN THE GAME!

I need to know how to study better. What is most important to learn. These guys who can take a map and say "ok, cruisers here, bb's here, dd's go do your usual shit" astonish me.

My best ship by far is the KamiIKaze-R. It just fits me so well. I play it i one of two ways:

1. If it's a standard game (and I HATE these boring as Standard Games) I concentrate on spotting and supporting the team, taking my shots at usually BB's when the opportunity arises but spotting and support to the win is my primary goal.

2. If it is a Domination game, then I take on an Objective stance. Spotting, and capping, taking torp shots at BB's or Cruisers when the opportunity arises, and whatever it takes, staying HIDDEN! KK-R ain't got the guns to be fucking with DD's one on one.

I have been very successful in this ship (as well as the Isokaze and MineKaze, until they nerfed them back to the stone age :()

Help me Obi-WoWs captains, you're my only hope :)
 
I am absolutely convinced that Missouri guns have been nerfed. I haven't been able to get a citadel in like 5 games, even when presented a dead-on side shot. And the dispersion is fucking insane.

It feels like a german battleship now.

I know it's said that they will not nerf a premium ship, but I don't believe that for one second any more.

I used to be able to kill it with this thing. Now, it's just horrible to play.

Is this one of those ships where the dispersion upgrade does just the opposite?

Even though I'm hitting the target, only 40-60k damage. Someting is very, very wrong with Missouri right now.

The other guy in chat with one says the same thing.
 
This is what happens when your KamaKazi is selfish and is more interested in racking up kills than winning the game. God dammit.

I capped several times and NO ONE did a damn thing to preserve the caps. What a bunch of fucking losers.

for me, it's being able to stop my impulse to charge in somewhere, that limits my usefulness to achieving the win. You have to look at what your team is doing and try to work with it since 90% of the time your team will do some stupid shit, and won't work together apart from forming a perfect lemming train to the furthest cap on the map to render themselves irrelevant

not really. It's a 1 trick pony that doesn't work well with the reduced ship count in ranked. If a bismark charges in, he'll die. If he stays at range, the terrible dispersion make it one of the worst BB's.

Bought. I don't remember if I had the Anshan, but even if I didn't a ship and 1500 dabs is a steal. Can always use cheap dablooms :)

Ouch Larry , that one hurts. If you play DD it is a vital role for winning , and the asholshiho is not good at contesting caps or other dds. Kid, loyang etc are good dds!

So the perma camos are half price right now Tier 9 and under. This is the first time I've ever purchased the perma camo for any tech tree ships (Fuso, Akatsuki & Cleveland) which leads me to the suggestion of picking up the Cleveland camo now so you shouldn't have to pay for a more expensive one when it goes to tier 8.

Akatsuki is my favorite IJN ship, btw:

while i understand why they did it, there needs to be a system in place where if you don't move above R10 0 stars after X amount of games(say 5-7 games) it should automatically drop you back to R11 0 stars.

If nothing else, the -50% on repairs makes it worth it. It can be hard to make money in T10 without the damage limiters in place.

As far as favorite IJN I still have to stick by my little KamiKaze-R :)
 
I actually finally won a game with the Roma last night!

Thats like 1 win for 20 losses. What the actual fuck is going on ? You just can't be on the losing side like this unless the MM has it out for you in some way.

I mean, I might be a potato sometimes, but damn.... I never did nuttin' to deserve this !
