Yesterday's episode of Cuck the Zuck got Gabe Newell's attention and he has acted quickly so as to not end up on a highchair in front of Congress. Seriously, the folks over at Steam have not taken kindly to apps like SteamSpy and are looking to boot its ability to collect game data on your Steam account. And it seems that Valve is getting exactly what it wants as SteamSpy tweeted that it will no longer be able to operate.

Valve just made a change to their privacy settings, making games owned by Steam users hidden by default. Steam Spy relied on this information being visible by default and won't be able to operate anymore.

At least now I do not have to worry about my boss finding out I stayed up till 5 in the morning playing Hunt Showdown.
Check out the video.

I have an advantage in that my "boss" is computer illiterate. However, she simply waits for me to come to bed...and I am found out!
LOL! Exackery. Same boat here. She has no idea what Steam even is.

Good on Valve. Hopefully this whole Facebook drama also scares Microsoft enough to finally provide a telemetry opt-out in Windows 10, but something tells me they'd rather wait until they're dragged kicking and screaming through their own crisis moment.

The pervasive "better to apologize than ask permission" mentality is still very much alive in the Big Data Industrial Complex.

HAHA! I stayed up until 5am too =( Like 3 nights in a row now, that game is so damn addicting.

Crap, without SteamSpy how are forum fights over speculation of the death of the game I'm playing going to carry on?!? Think of all the pointless nerd raging that will no longer have an outlet or stats that can be twisted out of context to support highly dubious conclusions?

Aw who am I kidding, people will still make stuff up to prove their points like they always did...
