I have an old desktop with an AMD Tinity A6-5400K with a dead PSU . I just want a very cheap replacement and doesn't really care its efficiency since I am just using it as a HTPC to watch some movies over the network and some web surfing.
I happen to come across this PSU brand named Excelvan and their price was right at that time when comparing with other PSUs. I have never heard of that brand and there's pretty much nothing on the Internet that talks about that brand except its Amazon review. I pulled the trigger anyway because the price was right for me.
I just want to put a post on here in case anyone come across this brand and want to hear someone opinions on it.
In summary, the PSU does work, I have no problem with it. Although I don't have the tool for any actual benchmark but the machine does comes up and I was able to watch movies and do web surfing on it. I have used this machine for couple weeks now before I wrote this post.
Here's a picture of the front and back of the box. It advertises that it is over 80% efficiency but it didn't state its certification level (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, titanium) so you either believe it or not. In my case, I don't really care, haha...
It has three 4-pin molex connectors. You either care or don't care about it nowaday. Some newer PSU doesn't even bother with molex connector anymore since newer PC components doesn't use it anymore.
The packaging is interesting, the PSU is shrink wrapped. I don't think that is ever the case with all the other PSUs I have purchase over the years. The wire is not sleeved but that is typically the case on a cheaper PSU.
Doing some quick test to make sure the computer does turn on before the actual replacement.
PSU is installed after verifying that it does work. Definitely the wire would look a lot better if it is sleeved but this computer has a closed panel anyway so it doesn't matter much anyway.
