Last month we wrote that Skyrim VR was available for pre-order, and release day is finally upon us. In addition to the $60 you will need to hand over for the game, Bethesda has released the PC Requirements. Fairly hefty requirements for a 7 year old game, hopefully there is enough improvements to justify them, as well as the price tag.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
Processor: CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or better
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 / AMD RX 480 8GB or better
Storage: 15 GB available space

RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS:

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB / AMD RX Vega 56 8GB
Storage: 15 GB available space

Ok who is going to be the first one to shit all over it? Starting......NOW

I liked it. The whiffle ball bat melee attack is kinda weird but I know there isnt much that can be done right now. The bow and arrow is a blast especially because crouching in the real world engages stealth. And when you sight down the arrow and let it fly into a bandits face, it is a wonderful feeling.

Though I almost punched the tv trying to shut up that Talos guy in whiterun.

Hopefully a better game experience than Neil Stephenson's CLANG from a few years back. Ha! Damn it Karen, where's my good indoor foam sword?! Papa has a dragon to slay!

This makes me sad. =| When I throw down money for a new graphics card, I like it to be at least a few years future proof, but the recommended graphics card for this first-generation VR game is the same graphics card that I can't afford now....

I keep seeing reports that the GTX 970 runs this game great.

Are we just going to glance over the fact that this Zenimax/Bethesda game lists RIFT SUPPORT! Holy ****!

If it makes you feel better, nobody can.

Skyrim, the game that keeps on giving [shitloads of $$$ to Bethesda]. o_O

After seeing that full body demo and then seeing this "professional studio" made thing, what a fucking joke. lol. This is the crap that still makes VR a pile of garbage. Weightless floating hands/weapons. I cannot express how much of a loathsome shit pile this sort of crap is. And they want full price for it.

The second generation Rift is going to have controllers that can dynamically change their weight up to a simulated 250lbs.

The Vive Pro Pro is also rumored to have that functionality but HTC is reportedly having problems getting saftey certification in some states.

Can this be played with a keyboard and mouse? I don't wanna commit the $100 to buy motion controllers and on top of that, waving my arms around for hours at a time vs sitting comfortably in a chair doesn't seem viable.

Yes the standard version of the game that doesnt have vr has been available for 7 years. I assume all you are wanting is head view? I believe there is an addon or driver that can create this capability for the standard game.

I have VORPX which will simulate it but it does a kind of crappy job, I'm pretty sure having it done natively is going to be better.

So far I have been loving the game, got it for 20% off and I don't regret it. I don't understand the hate people have for this release. People were fine with the last 5 remakes but they add something NEW and holy shitstorm how dare they release it lol.

Personally I bought it once before at release and never seen a reason to purchase any of the other releases (what's the point when the pc version is the best? lol). This is th first time I see an actuall reason to buy it again.
