WoW; 6h expansion Legion

I tried to get back into the game, pre ordered the new exp and started doing the quest line that they are unlocking weekly but it just seems boring still. Wish they had more fun stuff like pvp ranks and less of a dark theme

Anyone getting bored with Legion at this point ?

I'm in a great Guild, they're all super pros, and I'm just an ok player, My Guild is all i975+ geared, even their lowest alts are i960+.

I am now down to just playing three characters, I switch back and forth on.

- DH Havoc= i951
- DK Frost / Blood, i963
- Paladin Tank = i946

But I have gotten to the point of just feeling the grind running Antorus week after week, after week, and still 30 more weeks or so of Antorus until the new Raid release.

Currently my main the Death Knight, runs Normal + Heroic Antrous weekly, and my other two run Normal, so that's 4 Raid runs of the same Raid every week, and will be another 120 more runs until the new Raid releases.

Besides that I am totally wiped out on Mythic+ runs, I have been in all those dungeons ten million times, I can't keep doing it. And even the gear, the top gear M+ gives I think is i960, and yeah couple of my characters could use it, but I have lost my patience running those just for slightly better gear. Plus PUGing M+ can be great or super bad.

Thing is, I still like logging in almost every day, and just playing around with my characters, if just for 20 minutes even a night, to hammer out a couple WQ's if bored and not in the Raiding mode. Or run older Legion Raids for mog stuff is a new thing for me, which is fun.

But my point of "keeping up with the Jone's" to try and be a i975 geared player is just too time consuming for me, even though I'd love to be geared like that, my Guild and myself never run current Mythic Raids. Plus soon enough the pre expansion patch comes out in 4 months and even i980 gear will be silly, and then the new expansion, where you'll get easy i1,000 gear by just killing a Level 111 deer in the forest.

Which brings up another point of mine, as much as I love WoW, I always hated how you can be uber bad ass powerful, like right in Legion at Level 110 and be i980 super geared just an ass kicker, but as soon as the new expansion comes out and you go into those new zones, a Level 112 squirrel can be challenging to kill, and all that Legion Mythic Raid gear is now wimpy compared to a regular green creature in a new expansion zone.

I'm ilvl 968 and enjoy being able to pop in, destroy some shit, and log out. Instead of lusting to get powerful enough to kick some ass. Reap the benefits of the hard work I've poured in. And I no longer feel I need to clear H Antorus everyweek. I choose Argus and pug any other bosses I feel like doing.

I got 7 days of play time for free a few weeks ago and played pretty consistently. I'm not sure what it is, the game just doesn't have the luster for me anymore. I would likely play if it were free (considering how much I paid for the expansions) but it wasnt enough for me to sub again.

I've been playing for free since they introduced tokens. With a few alts and the legion app, you can easily make more than enough gold to support your WoW habit. I think I'm pulling in somewhere around 500k monthly just doing gold missions.

I’m not sure I have the time or desire to farm 193K gold a month.

I did that casually for about six months but the price kept going up and up to the point where the amount I was playing was no longer keeping up with raising price of the tokens.
I think I left when the price was around 150k. Great deal when you are active. Not so much if you just log in now and then.

Question: I haven't got any expansion beyond Mists of Pandaria, what should I do?

Your account should automatically be up to WoD level right now. Unfortunately it does not look like there is a discounted Legion expansion right now anywhere, so 50 bucks to get current + 50 bucks to get BfA. Or wait until BfA hits.
It does not look like you can upgrade from MoP to BfA for 50 bucks right now.

I still like WoW, it's fun to log in each night, see what Guild is doing and say hi. But then I think of what needs to be done, run Normal + Heroic Antorus, on both my Tanks this week, and there's still 30 weeks more until the next Raid release.

I stopped running Mythic + Dungeons, totally burned out on them. Just can't see the same dungeon for the 200th time.

WQ's are boring as heck now, the same old zones same quests repeated.

Just wish there was more to do at end game, and trying to gear up beyond i960+ than just Heroic Raiding the same Raid for 10 months.

Make another alt, it's what I do. Questing and dungeons are both pretty different just by the recent pacing changes. Ally races are a thing now. I've bounced between lowbie alts and unlocking alt class mounts from broken shores.

Then I stop and smell the roses, there's a lot of that going on on RP servers. Endgame doesn't have to mean chasing ilvl.

I gave up on mythic progression raiding. My guild was top 30 US for more than a few MOP/WOD raid bosses, but that shit burned me out quick. Now, I have a toon of every class, and I run LFR when I'm bored. I'm making it my goal to get as many mage tower challenges done before they go away.

BfA has an official release date of August 14th, with the 8.0 pre patch due sometime in July

A lot sooner then I expected, thought it was end of September.

I hope this isn't another WoD, which sucked compared to Legion.

From what people are saying, this is (dangerously) aggressive timing for Blizzard. Shit is downright broken in Alpha, the redesigns are awful, and they're also making the release a lot closer than anyone expected.

Will have to check the alpha out a bit more then, I mostly found some flaws in the world like floating buildings and doodads, but since we go from doing millions of dps to tens there are bound to be some issues.

The new "azerite armor" system is broken beyond belief, and the expansion is centered around it like it was your artifact weapon in Legion. The "talents" you can choose for them are final, completely weak, and it means you need a random personal loot drop armor set for every spec, because each talent is for a single spec.

This will probably be the first expansion I do not return for. I agree with most of that post. Really dislike how they pruned the abilities. Took away fun stuff I used or moved it to other specs, but thank god I still have unending breath!
I could be wrong, I didn't plan on playing Legion but changed my mind a month before release because I had nothing else to do.

It's been alternating good/bad for a while now. WOTLK (good) / Cata (Bad) / MoP (Good) / WoD (Baaaaaaaad) / Legion (fairly good) / BfA (Who the fuck knows?)

From what I've heard is that the team that did Cata and WoD are on this one. I think the way it works at Blizz is that they have a Live Team and an Expansion team, that alternate expansions and live. So next expansion is the team that did MoP and Legion.

Interesting, if true that's bad news for BfA, as I think MoP and Legion were the two best expansions since Wrath, and Cat and WoD the two worst.

When will Blizzard just scrap WoW and make a new next gen MMO like World of StarCraft or World of Diablo ?

Why? Let’s say wow is at a historical low, 5 million users. That’s still 75 million a month. Show me another game that makes even close to that. Why would anyone scrap it?

Also, why scrap it when they just do tech creeps every expansion, updating the graphics/etc?

I WOULD, however, like to see them let the game take advantage of multicore processors though.

New MMO's at their highest subscriber count cant match WoW at its lowest. Why would they scrap WoW?

I guess I didn't mean for them to stop making WoW, obviously even at it's current lower sub numbers, it is still far and above way higher than anything else there, or has been out there.

I recall reading years ago, for a MMO to profitable it needed to be around 750k to 1m subscribers just to cover costs and stay even, not a loss, and not a big money maker, and that anything over 1m to 1.5m subscribers was a good money maker. Thing is no MMO out today has a constant 1.5M base of monthly paying subscribers, except WoW, and even at it's low sub number of like 5M, it's making MAJOR money for Blizzard still. For Blizzard to stop making expansions for WoW, it needs to drop down to less than 1M player base, and that seems to be years away from happening. I bet they stay over 2m subscribers for at least a couple more expansions, and not dropping below 1M for at least 3 expansions from now. So WoW will hit 20yrs, and still be making money.

I would just love to see a next gen, all new MMO from Blizzard, something fresh and different, but still have that Blizz MMO feel; World of Starcraft a Sci/Fi WoW, or World of Diablo, or more mature dark fantasy WoW.

I find it hard to believe making 10-15 million a month just off monthly subscription is just breaking even.

I find it hard to believe making 10-15 million a month just off monthly subscription is just breaking even.

The only two recent popular MMO's with decent paying sub numbers were SW:ToR and WAR ( WarHammer Online ) And those games are actually very old now and pretty much history.

But both game developers said they'd needed to stay above that 1m monthly subscriber mark to keep the game rolling with active content and regular patches, otherwise the game development would suffer and not be able to have strong support.

Both those games barely held on to 1m subscribers. WAR only for like a couple months, then it fell off. And ToR had that for maybe one year at best.

i dont know why they cant have more dynamic mini content patches more often between the big ones, lately it seems to be new raid tier oh yay, clear it, farm it, bored, wana quit, play alts, search for other games.... then new content patch comes around and repeat

the issue is this time BFA was a long ways off and i think they are rushing to keep the subs, i know we went from a huge busy guild to hardly getting enough to make 10 mans raids each week now

They did add more non raid content between raids but if it is of no or little interest to (some) players then it does not help those.

They added the broken isles and Argus for more story and wq's, but the rewards while fine at first quickly lose value.

You can't do good all the time for everyone, especially with such a diverse playerbase.

I agree that Broken Isles and Argus were nice updates, especially Argus, I recall loving that when it first released, was cool to have new zones to explore and quest, and get quick loot for alts, and Argus had a cool story line, and was just a blast to go through, at first...then it got old quick.

The problem with WQ's is how out geared they become so fast, then I don't even want to do them anymore, even for the grind AP stuff, that becomes so tedious, running World Quests only for AP, I just can't do them anymore, just such a freaking bore, and feels like a chore.

Would be cool if WQ loot was updated each time a new Raid releases, so right now, I would like to WQs dropping i915 gear, instead of the i890 gear they currently drop. And have the big Invasions boss drop like i945.

And Mythic + dungeon runs, I got bored with those already, because after two years you've run the same dozen or so dungeons a thousand times each, and I can't keep grinding those any longer, running them one more time will make me wanna die, I've seen each dungeon hundreds and hundreds of times. Not sure what the solution would be though ?

I do like the idea of shorter Raid runs, with just 3 or 4 bosses. Sometimes these big Raids with 12 bosses, are way too long to run, and I get it, you can stop and run them another night, but would be cool to see more ToV type Raids.

Same with Dungeons, my fav is Maw of Souls, because of less bosses = faster run. I'd like to see that in BfA. I have 40 minute long dungeon runs, much prefer zipping through in 15 to 20 minutes.

Seems like you just made that up, hard to say a blanket statement for game companies overhead and server costs.

I absolutely did not just make that up.

I don't have time to find the articles from like 8 or so years ago, but I believe it was from the same guy who stated this. The main game manager behind WarHammer Online, I thought was then also brought on board with SW:ToR, and after both games didn't have stellar sub numbers anywhere even remotely close to WoW's, and both games were selling poorly, that guy made a comment about large scale MMO production and costs, and what it takes to run huge games like this, and all the details involved, etc...and how it's not easy making money on this big MMO's like they expected, blah, blah, blah.

Just so bored with Legion at this point, thank God BfA is not too far away.

All I do now is log in to run Antorus Normal and Heroic and lots of wipes in pugs. Plus running the same Raud for 5 months now gets old.

I still like WoW, like logging in, checking my characters, but then I realize what there is to do, which is almost thing as far as advancement, except to run the one Raid Antorus, and pretty much only Heroic, as most my characters are in the i950 to i960+ range. But then doing Heroic PUGs can be so frustrating, wiping on bosses several times, then rage quit people, and group falls apart, and waiting to get a new group. Some bosses can take a half hour to down that way. My Guild only runs heroic once a week, and that run typically goes smooth though.

Another issue with Antorus, is it's too long, too many bosses, like 11 or so ? Even if you go in with a great group, Heroic will still take a long time. And a Heroic PUG, that can take hours. I just can't do it anymore.

But the thing is my Guild has out geared me already, they're already i975+, they run heroic and do Mythic +20's, and all sorts of stuff. I don't have the time or want to do all of that. But would love to be i970 geared.

This is what makes me wonder if the classic reboot will work, it's all going to be "been there, done that"

Well for some reason I ended up buying the BfA expac and got back into the game, RIP me.

But TBF, I only came back to farm older content raids, my ping (~300) and my time zone doesn't help with current raids, and I am not a fan of loot politics.

Still... lots of lore and content to catch up on...
