Hi all, thanks for reading. I currently have a set of Logitech G930 (I think) headphones, gotta be 5 yrs old now. I'm looking at upgrading these. I have a Haswell based system with no sound card just relying on the onboard sound.
I've been looking at the new Steelseries Arctis Pro+GameDAC wired headphones. They are priced at 270 Euro (I'm in Ireland). I can't make up my mind though, they get great reviews, but some threads I've read people are recommending other setups with a sound card. Another setup someone recommended is to use a Sennheiser GSX1000 or GSX1200 with a Sennheiser GameOne headset. Using the Sennheiser options would be more expensive, especially the GSX1200 version. I'd like to avoid fitting an onboard soundcard ideally. Is there really much, if any, difference between the above. Or will there be a decent enough advantage to an onboard soundcard and something else. I'd definitely prefer a combined headset with with rather than a separate mic. Sound is something that looks pretty straight forward at first, then you get bamboozled with all kinds of setups.
I play almost exclusively FPS games, Rainbow Six Seige. I have no external speakers and no need for them. Wired or wireless doesn't bother me.
Thanks in advance for any info/advice.
