I went into an outpost like a ninja and killed someone by throwing a shovel at them like a spear. I then proceeded to shoot a hostage in the back of the head because I had a feeling it wouldn't work for some reason. "HOLY SHIT THANK Y --"

It worked.

Also turn off enemy tags and maybe the detection shit in the options. The tagging is absurd, you look at someone and instant wallhack. It's so obscenely hand-holdly that it just makes me feel like the game assumes that I'm mentally retarded.

Haven't had a chance to actually play yet, but I got my configuring done before bed last night. Looks like 4K/Ultra at 60% should be able to keep me above 60fps for the duration. HDR looks pretty nice just based upon the menus.

had to change the mouse sensitivity for my weapon zoom and normal movement...Ubisoft really did a nice job offering a ton of settings in-game...too bad they locked out the use of ReShade as I would have liked to sharpen the image up a bit more due to the use of TAA

This game is easy meat and potatoes for me. I'm easily going to get my money's worth.

I like SMAA a lot so going with that is no problem for me.

I'm kinda bummed that Reshade is locked out. Some recent games (Dishonred 2 ,etc.) have actually had the courtesy of adding an in game sharpener to offset the vaseline smearing effect of TAA.

Reshade's Adaptive Sharpening really does a fantastic job. It's my favorite go-to otherwise.

SMAA is sharper but the Aliasing and shimmering it produces, especially when moving is terrible...I think TAA is better overall especially in a game like this with a lot of foliage, SMAA isn't very good at subpixel or alpha texture aliasing

Agreed. TAA with a sharpening offset is ideal.

For now I'm using SMAA and Resolution modifier up to 1.2 or so for a little extra AA effect and it really looks good.

I'm getting a steady 60fps with everything maxed out. V-sync off. Framelock 60. (I'm glad to see this in more games as well) I'm still at my modest 1920X1200 resolution, though. ;)

Reshade works for me... i'm using a older version though, v2.0.3. And I did not buy the game through Steam, I got it from GMG, so Uplay w/o Steam.

Is the game supported by Freestyle? Is NVIDIA's sharpening filter as good as ReShade with TAA?
Me too, lol.

Ps - Where do I get the pre order content at?
If you have the Steam version see if all the content is listed when you go to it in your library and make sure all the listed content is checked. I'll check if I have all of it when I get home.

I have it just through the ubisoft manager.

Also check the UBI club in game, that's where I got most of my preorder stuff.

Polaris RZR costs only 2 grand in game :p
Yet an outfit costs 800? lol wtf

I've never used FreeStyle (I don't install GeForce Experience)...ReShade is my preferred tool for that...FC5 does support FreeStyle because the patch notes for their latest driver mentioned: 'Memory leak occurs leading to poor game performance when using NVIDIA Freestyle'

This game is tough and yes, that opening escape in the truck kicked my ass several times as well before I finally got lucky.

4K results with desktop in sig: min 47, avg 54, max 64

1080p results with laptop in sig: min 58, avg 72, max 88

I'm really surprised this game runs this well right out of the box, really expected it to stress the system more. Do I sound disappointed? Lol

Side note: I ran the benchmark on the desktop with the new drivers and the previous ones, saw no difference.

I'm really enjoying this game. It's a good move for the series.

The general gunplay/combat feels really good. The graphics while not ground breaking look really good during scenes of action, and the explosions are hilarious to watch. They really nailed down the visual effect / feeling and I love how nice the explosions look when you throw a stick of dynamite over some cultists and they get blown away.

Be careful parking vehicles next to silos. Seems a little nudge is enough to cause a massive explosion...

how does the resolution scale option work?...I'm running at my native 1440p...so what does a res. scale of for example 1.2 mean?...does it work the same as Nvidia DSR?

I always play games on hard. That truck sequence was just stupid. You got farther by never shooting at all versus actually trying.

GGG loved it, says it's his fav in the series since 2.
High praise -- can't wait to rock this after I get my volta.

IMO it's way better than 2 was - even 2 at time of release.

I'd say it's the best of all the games besides being under the first game. 3 and 4 were OK games, but both felt like a downgrade from 2 for me.

Primal was just meh.

This is a really solid title.

This is solid and feels fresh. I'm very happy with it.

Good tips floating around and far and away: Get a silencer and get Boomer pronto.

so that entire first island (Dutch Island) is pretty much a tutorial?...the NPC co-op partners are too good and make the game even easier...I'm going solo...I prefer silent takedowns and stealth and if I get spotted I go guns blazing...graphics are hit and miss but overall looks pretty decent

The difficulty has a good ramp up.

Trust me when I say that once you piss these guys off enough you'll have assholes in planes bombing you, retards in trucks constantly chasing you, and general fuckery all around. The starting island isn't much.

that's what I figured...with almost every game I play I start out really slow so I can get comfortable with the mechanics and remap the keys to my liking...I already restarted once so when I finish Dutch Island everything should just flow better and I'll just react instead of having to think about which keys to hit

That was in the list of issues that were fixed by this release, meaning it was an issue prior but now it's fixed. There is a separate section for open issues.

so how does one play the DLC with the mars, vietnam games etc? i bought the gold edition and it even says the DLC is "owned" in ubisoft but a bit confused...

Hmm, Well I binged today and last night. Racked up 22 hours in game. Love the fishing part of the game!

Seems to run well enough on a RX 480@1400/9000 @ 1440p ultra over 40fps with no dropped frames is quite smooth and playable. 4k was rough on the old RX480, even on medium settings.

Jesus.

Am I being dumb? Orrrrrr, how do I get my pre order items in game? Or is it only for multiplayer?
I was being dumb. I found them.

For those of you that don't know, the weapons are in the weapons store.

Ubisoft has definitely made decisions that earns them lumps and criticisms but overall I have to give credit where it's due: Between the two AAA juggernauts I still like and feel way better about them all told, lumps and all, vs EA and by a considerable degree.

This is a helluva good game and the fresh shot in the arm this series sorely needed. They even have your rescuer troll you at one point early on about "now don't worry, I'm not going to have you climb a bunch of towers." I don't miss it.

I can't see how an FPS fan can go wrong here all told. It's gorgeous and runs great. It scaled up and down nicely. Gameplay is tight and you can dial it any way you want in the menus.

I'm using Boomer almost like D-Dog back in Metal Gear. That's huge. Get him and a suppressor for your gun (likely a 1911) as soon as you can.
