Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 Has Microtransactions, Campaign Is Playable Offline

Far Cry 5's microtransactions will be available for single-player and co-op, and apparently head-to-head multiplayer as well...it'll probably make gamers happy to learn that all of Far Cry 5's microtransaction items are cosmetic only; they do not affect gameplay...

Cosmetic would still be annoying to me IF they were not otherwise available in game. Its one thing if they are making "time saver, give me that skin and a bunch of resources now" packs , or if they're selling skins and content that can otherwise either be unlocked in game or were awarded for some real-money other method (ie missed the pre-order items? You can buy them here for $2 etc). However, I'm a bit annoyed if a full price, $80 game (lets not pretend that the $80 Gold Edition isn't the full version of the game; I'm actually okay with an increased price IF they don't try to monetize on top of that) continuously drops a stream of "Hey, look - more skins to buy!" nonsense. Most of AC Origins is fantastic but the idea of items or skins that you need to buy, even if you have the Gold edition, needs to be put to rest ASAP.

Whether cosmetic or not, they have no place in a full priced game that is already pushing season passes before release. Ah well, another game added to my "only buy when it hits $12 or less" list.

FC4's multiplayer went largely ignored - which I guess... eh. I always wonder about poorly supported modes like this- and why it was even considered (other than more fodder for microtransactions).

FC5 seems to have... a lot of things going on. You've got a typical SP mode, co-op of that, multiplayer, DLC, map mode... I'm not saying all of it will be good, it's just a lot of Far Cry.

What happens is what is Far Cry? Well from the looks of it its about everything throw in some Montanna and fishing, soda machines, flying and cute farm animals. You can get this same experience from just about anytime you go outside in real life. It becomes a simulation rather than a game that defines itself.

unless you live in Montana most people playing the game won't get that experience from going outside their house

Alright, well personally I'll be waiting to actually play the game before making a judgment. I'm sure it's going to be more fun than "Montana Real Life Simulator 1000".

Considering how few people live in Montana (or similar states like Wyoming, Idaho, or either of the Dakotas), they aren't alienating all that many people.

Not entirely accurate. It has been said that FC5 will have "time-saving" real money items. If you are paying money to "save time" then that is an indicator some of the content in the game is excessively grindy or not worth playing. Which somewhat describes the last few incarnations of farcry, copy past missions on a huge map.

Did ACO have "time savers"? The gear upgrade grind was incredibly repetitive but at least it wasn't too long.

Game looks good at times I'll give you

Anyone else having issues preloading?

the game is a Ubisoft title and their own Uplay service is having issues with the pre-load while Steam works fine? :inpain: ...I stopped pre-loading games early awhile back...no need since I have a fast internet connection plus I heard there are sometimes issues when pre-loading compared to just downloading it after it unlocks

In a callback to events from the previous game in the series, it is possible to complete Far Cry 5 in just 10 minutes...in Far Cry 4, all you needed to do to see the credits roll was ignore an on screen prompt and stay seated at Pagan Min's dinner table...Far Cry 5's shortcut plays out a little differently though and you can watch what happens in the video below...Spoilers, obviously...

This post is a spoiler lol

I didn't have any issues with the pre-load on Uplay. Maybe their servers were just having some issues with everyone trying.

Yeah this game is the Bomb no dobut just seen the streamer shoot a American Bald Eagle with a Compound Bow.

I think the game will get pretty good reviews...sounds better then Far Cry 4 and maybe on par with FC3

"Great" character customization. Why do they even put that in, if it's so lame? Just choose a character and stick with it if you're not going all out. This is worse than Ghosts, and that was already pretty bad.

Far Cry 5 appears to be running smoothly on the PC, no 100% CPU usage, no stuttering

On Ultra settings and at 1080p, our main test system (Intel i7 4930K (overclocked at 4.2Ghz) with 8GB RAM, NVIDIA’s GTX980Ti, Windows 10 64-bit and the latest version of the GeForce drivers) was able to push a minimum of 72fps and an average of 85fps...

got my deluxe edition preloaded and ready to go. Not sure if I'm going to hit up the coop with a friend first or the Map editor .... excited for this!
