What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Anyone tried Hunt: Showdown

It looks really interesting to me, like PUBG, but a new twist, an extra angle, and much more interesting environment and the game engine is Crysis so It could be beautiful.

I would like to try this, but I can't help but think that this needed to be a single player game.

Maybe, I always wanted to play Fallout or Skyrim with my kids in coop. When Elder Scrolls Online came out I was so disappointed that it was like all the other MMOs and not like Skyrim at all.

Got Dungeons 3 on sale on Steam and been playing that the last few days. Also been playing the "The Movies", which while old is still great fun imho. Also been dabbling in Sims 4 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Started up Monster Hunter World. Have to say it is a well made game. It has a ton of content. You can play either single or multiplayer, although I have yet to try multiplayer. My main problem is I do not find fighting the monsters to be much fun. Long drawn out fights. Seems like you need to wail away for ever to bring one down. The combat seems kind of sluggish, the way your character swings and moves. Monsters on the other hand are quick and agile. No lock on, so the camera can drift. During close combat there is a lot of clipping Into the target. But there is more to the game than fighting big monsters. Gathering, leveling up gear, trying out various weapons, different armor. Don't want to pan the game entirely, there is a charm about it. Wish I enjoyed the combat and monster fights more though.

Turok 2 Remastered.

I just finished the first level in under an hour. (having made sure to find all the keys etc)

This used to be a longggggg, arduous process back on the N64!!

Seriously, this game was legendary for being a pain in the ass.

Between the fog, purposely confusing map layouts, limited ammo/save points, and the analog stick: it was a fucking nightmare.

This round, I didn't sweat my ammo or health more than a couple of times tops lmao

Picturing the first level of Turok 2 back in the day, sends shivers down my spine the way only Zelda's Water Temple can match....

(my HS freshman Christmas break was SCARRING)

All things said, 1998 was definitely the best N64 holiday season by far IMO....

I'm sad I missed the free trial on this! Sea of Thieves looks like a blast.

Any similarities to other games?

Honestly... none that I can think of. I have never played a game where you NEED other people to help use your boat, man the lines, angle the sales, load and fire canons, fix holes, drain water, hunt for treasure... it's all cooperative and I know of no other game that relies on it so much.

I just grabbed an X-Arcade Tank Stick setup (I usually design and build my own arcade setups, but haven't had the time lately) so I've been all MAME and various fighting games with my kids. Also, and I can't stress enough how cool CRAWL is on an arcade setup. The game was basically designed around it, and even has menu items for setting up cabinets, sticks, etc. If you have a nice arcade setup, I highly recommend grabbing CRAWL, maybe a little alcohol and a couple of friends to play it.

Sounds awesome, thanks for the impressions.

Two new games for me recently. Kingdom Come Deliverance and Veil of Crows.

I'll be playing some metro last light. Just finished 2033 and looking forward to comparing the two. Should play well on the new 1070ti and 4k tv!

Metro was amazing for me. I want to go back and play the remasters in 4K, definitely worth playing.

Also, make sure you save some ammo for the lap dance scene. Quite a nice show, and questionable what games can slide by with on an M rating.

Lol, Im one that hoards everything until the end of the game, so Ill be sure to splurge on this mysterious lapdance scene when it comes up!

Yeah this game is great fun even with only one Map I wish the loading times were faster. Was playing with a Steam Buddy last night who showed me how everything works from the Crows giving away your location to gunshots in the background which are other players and how to find clues ect....

Burnout Paradise Remastered, hopefully. At least assuming it doesn't suck or isn't broken at release.

Subnautica.....ive logged over 40hrs in this game and loving every minute of it!

I’m playing through dark souls 1 - it was a backlog item I picked up during a steam sale. Man, what a great game. I should have picked the series up years ago - I’m hooked. It gets bonus points for allowing me to make an actual battle mage that isn’t gimped for picking a little tank and a little mage. Usually to be effective you’re forced into glass cannon or hulk tank mode, but not this time and I’m loving it.

There’s a bit of an “initiation wall” that I imagine is frustrating for a lot of people, but once I got past those damn bell gargoyles I was looking forward to my boss fights instead of dreading them.

Good stuff.

I bought this a long time ago, played a few minutes, thought it was really cool, but decided to hold off a while. I realize that they've put a ton of work into it since then, so I'm excited to play it again. One thing I was waiting for though is proper controller support. Do you know if they got it implemented in a satisfactory way yet? I prefer M+KB for most games, but this game is something I want to sit back on the couch with on the larger screen if I'm able. May just install it soon, and give it a try anyway.

I played it with and xbox 360 controller in VR.
No issues except the exit inventory button was the same as the steam VR overlay (and cannot be remapped) , so i had to disable my steam VR overlay.
But if you're not playing in VR , you wont have that issue.

Picked up a controller so I can finally show Cuphead who's boss....

Besides that, mostly PUBG and Turok 2.

Some friends talked me into ESO. Been a while since I played a MMO. Liking it so far. Got some friends to play with too to make it more enjoyable.

So I finished Metro Last Light Redux last night and took me about 10 hours. I installed Metro 2033 Redux so I could have something short to play before Far Cry 5; also I never completed it. So I think i'll be playing 2033 this weekend. I'll also be playing The Division with my wife.

Does playing a few minutes to see if different settings and tweaks have made the game playable yet count? Because that's what I've been doing with FFXV since its release.

More Wow, Metro last light redux, Overwatch, maybe some Pubg or GTAV and some Persona 5

playing watch dogs 2.

the story is SO relevant right now. with the facebook leaks and Cambridge Analytica. the explosion of "Smart Home" stuff like alexa, google homepods and assistants. Even elections/meddling/results is in there.

It's like playing 2017-2018. A little scary, and this released in nov 2016... the story was probably done a lot before that too.

vermintide 2, this game is so hard on starting recruit level that it feels like the game squats over you and takes a shit on you.

probably because nobody knows what they are doing but damn

About 20 hours into Persona 5 on PS4 - probably be playing this one for awhile.

I'm also playing this but it's kinda a pita in that you always have to go to school and can rarely do what you want when you want, it feels very restricted for an RPG, you make 3 lockpicks and then you have to go to bed cuz they day is over, so annoying, you get home from a castle and have to go to sleep, can't go to the store to buy meds or anything.

Don't get me wrong, it also has it's strong points, but they do manage to get any sence of momentum killed like this.
