GHOST S1 - When both size & performance matters

I don't believe that they would do this.

But, to be fair they have always been like this with communication.
And I don't know if most people noticed but the kickstarter was never for something already set in stone, contrary to the "other cases", it was pretty obvious that they were still iterating and experimenting on the ideas and design.
 
Can't believe I just randomly logged into nowinstock website today and saw a pre-order for MSI 1080ti AERO OC for $739 plus tax... definitely thought this was a fluke. So I click on it and bam... ordered! Holy cow what a blessing!! Just in time for my 31.5" 1440p monitor woohoo!!

I mean even just popping in once a month one one place outside slack for an update would be welcome. It may be unintentional but the message is "thanks for funding us, now we don't need to talk to you anymore."

This.. I made a friend back it, and we have no idea what color he will get etc. I logged in today and haven't been able to see any information?

Yeah, I use the slack but I'm not sure it's the best method of communication. I understand the desire to limit it to just backers giving input but it's self limiting and can be very confusing even for people who are used to it, not to mention how quickly threads happen (or don't)

No, once they recieve the final samples they will post the pictures (and i suppose that they will do a stream too).
At that point it will be possible to make the final decision

Problem is that it's not all of the backers. Patrick apparently sent everyone an invite, but only 920 logged into Slack. And I am lurking there, most of the discussion is between about a dozen regulars who like chatting. So it's really not a community project like NCase was.

They have a lot to learn from Dan... (Dan case a4)

I just hope to get my case in the promised time...
 
I did not back this case and actually am thinking of getting this case, while possibly selling my Dan A4 v1 case. That being said, it is worrisome that there are not even simple Weekly or bi-weekly updates to what is being worked on. It just feels like a lot of the design decisions are not community driven as mentioned multiple times in this thread as of late.

I would argue that Ncase set the benchmark really high in terms of communication and marketing. From the very start of its creation, there was constant back and forth between not only the creators, but the whole community. It was really amazing to see the first design prototypes compared to the final design. So much changed, and it just made the Ncase M1 that much more special to many and I. I pretty much also knew the timelines as well as fairly realistic timeline goals from Ncase.

No doubt, I would probably put Dan's A4 a close second, but have to give props to Saber's Sentry for really good updates after the design was finalized and their apparent experience with supply chain logistics.

NFC S4 mini is a really cool, but niche product that could have done better in marketing itself throughout its design phases to the masses. Cerberus had a good product, but did not do a great job at all marketing its product especially with the HardWare Canucks review/overview. Reading the YouTube's comments for the Hardware Canuck's review of Cerberus was depressing, because there was an obvious miscommunication that led to people thinking an HWC were paid off to give such exposure to an unknown PC case and brand.
 
Yeah Dan, NCase and the Saber crew all were/are very engaged with the community. I definitely look at them as the models that every other indie case project should strive to emulate if they want to succeed long term.

Yup! I go in there and I barely see any pertinent info for a backer. I see a handfull of guys going back and forth about components and such that I don't really care for. I just need my case. I also need to change my shipping address and I'm waiting on the Louqe team to respond to either the kickstarter page or here. I had to put my house for sale as I'm moving across the country and I'd hate to cancel my pledge because of poor communication.
 
What is the reason to make the updates backer exclusive? I do not really see the point in that. But I do not even know what Slack is, so what do I know :D

I think this is to prevent feedback from individuals who aren’t planning on buying the case and adding to a discussion that won’t matter to them at all since they could sway a design change one way and it won’t effect them since they aren’t even buying it. Slack is an invite only message platform where you can create channels and send messages to each other, basically a giant chat room that has a lot of features such as polls, alerts, and much more.

I think you missed my point. Jay said that he couldn't use a psu with higher wattage (than 500), because there are no psu's having the same physical dimensions (SFX) but with higher wattage. This is incorrect, and hence I guess he simply doesn't know?

I think its pretty embarrassing for a youtuber this big as JayzTwoCents is not to do some research before posting a video of a rare case like this, and when i mean rare i mean thats there are very few ppl who have this case.
A simple google search "SFX PSU" will bring a link to Corsairs homepage on the first page...
Every SFF'er know(prob. also use) that Corsair makes a 450W and a 600W PSU and the 600w is more than capable running a 1080ti.
you can even get a 650w SFX PSU from silverstone for that extra headroom.

So JAY do your homework before!!
This is not the first time i see Jay post a video without doing some research beforehand.... :(

Corsair has a 600w fully modular gold psu. There are at least a couple 600w sfx psus in the market.

Also, this case supports bothe sfx and sfx-l psus.

Yup.

The Silverstone SX600G (also gold rated fully modular) has existed almost 4 years now. The Silverstone SX700-LPT first shown at Computex almost 3 years ago.

Moreover, we have been running high power draw GForce 680/980 and original Titan with the ST45SG before that. PSU requirements are often overstated.

And I don't understand how Jay did his review without even watching Loque's own video "build time 7 minutes" which clearly features the popular SF600.
 
Do you guys know when thy will ask for choices in color, etc? I'm a little concerned since ETA is may and they haven't sent anything follow ups.

That's how Kickstarter works nowadays. You ask people for money. You sell yourself out to a bigger company. Profit. Or you take the money and run. Profit.

That's why I don't kickstart anything anymore. I used to kickstart a lot of stuff but when I started thinking about it, the people are borrowing my money in order to start a company and get rich while I have nothing.

time will tell. I really do hope the backers get the finished Ghost S1. The Ghost S1 project has been pretty closed since it began though.
 
People just don't like the sudden radio-silence. Although I assume it is fitting that they are ghosting.
A small update here and there, answering a question or two would alleviate a lot of the frustration with the above.

But they aren't even updating their Kickstarter, which is the least you could demand as a backer, the only ones hanging out around there are people who want updates and a dick named "Tom" doing their PR for them.

Pretty much this. I admit that I can be 'pessimistic', 'overly skeptical', but the lack of updates on even the site and kickstarter page does not instill a lot of confidence on a version1 or gen1 product. Then you have Slack, where the invites expired, and the backers that could not get in get blamed for 'not paying enough attention' to join the Slack in time.

It isn t negativity...people are simply asking to them to copy/paste an update every once in a while and to post a schedule on when they will get the samples, make a decision, start production , start shipping...(even if not 100% precise)

Anyone tried to write a direct pm with your request about more frequent updates in their forum topics?

To write a proper update during our campaign it sometimes took us whole day and we usually did that on Sundays to not slow down the production during the week. Maybe they simply do not have so much time?

According to their time schedule they should start shipping March/April. It means they are very busy right now and maybe they even don't think about logging in to this forum. Try to send them some pm's with your requests, informing that you are their backers and we will see how they will react. I'm sure they have some reasons why they are acting like this.
 
To my knowledge they don’t have to he prototypes yet and customers haven’t selected their configuration so no way it would reach the estimated date on Kickstarter.

Thanks. I thought it was April. No big deal to me if it's May or beyond to be honest. No plans to build now. Just wanted the case.

Got their update on ordering via email today.

the 16th when asked about being more present on the forums they said

"we will soon increase presence outside slack very soon"

maybe it was "valve time" soon

It will be relevant once we get cases in our hands, likely. I will definitely like to see what stuff people do. (I probably won't be building in mine for a while even after I get it.)

But right now yeah, not much point.

I really hope that pachalski is at least 50% as active as Dondan in these forums once the case is in our hands. It would kinda suck otherwise.
 
So have we established what is the best CPU AIO for this case? Looking to go ahead and buy something.
 
Happy Easter people! Hope you got all the eggs you deserved!

We were hoping to see some samples before Easter but it seems we will wait another couple of days before they turn up. As many of you probably know, in the more risky sourcing categories (aluminium being one, and steel another) we have multiple suppliers left in the process, still in competition. When we have evaluated the different potential suppliers we will be able to present the final finishes to you and let you choose.

Let me assure you that no critical design decisions are being made on Slack where not everyone is represented.

We are preparing a survey regarding the ports in the IO-panel that we will be sent out to every backer (KS and slackers) through e-mail, please vote and make your opinion heard!
