"Upgraded" internet speed having issues.

So I have Spectrum internet/TV. I was on Time Warner's plan still until today. I went to the office to exchange my set top box as it was having issues.

While there I returned my phone modem/box that wasn't even opened as we only had it to get the bundle pricing which was cheaper than without it.

So after switching things to save a whole $10 we actually got moved to Spectrum from TWC.

With that I was on 50/5 service with TWC. Now that we are switched Spectrum's basic internet is 100/10.

So I had to re-authorize my modem a few times and it finally started to show the 100/10 speed. BUT here's the issue.

Before the switch/upgrade I had QOS turned on in my router. Ever since the switch/change if I turn QOS on my internet download goes back to what it was before but the upload stays at the new speed.

As soon as I turn off QoS everything tests back to what it should be.

My setup is:
Router - Asus RT-AC87U
Modem - Arris SB6141 (Owned by me not through/from TWC/Spectrum)

Any ideas? I did as a note update the firmware on the router after I got home from the Spectrum shop as I logged in there to reset it after re-authorizing the modem and noticed there was an update.

I'm tempted to save my setup and restore the router to defaults and see if that helps. Or could it just be the QoS needs to re-learn with the new speeds?

Have you tried disabling adaptive, and manually setting it? Then maybe flipping it back to adaptive?

Sorry if I'm not very useful on this, posting because I'm curious as to what's going on in the consumer space, I haven't touched this type of stuff in years.

I've actually always had it on traditional. I've switched it off then on and to adaptive and traditional etc still same results. Goes to 50/10 with any type of QOS on and to 100/10 without. A little later tonight I'm going to backup my settings and restore the router and start from scratch see if that helps.

If not I'll either try to downgrade the firmware see if that fixes it or maybe see about a custom firmware.

Edit: So I had left for a few hours before this reply and I had left QOS off. I just turned it back to traditional and so far everything is testing fine... Guess I'll leave it as is for now and monitor it.

So I was still having a few issues. Mostly on my 5G wifi which I only use for my Phone, my chromebook, and my tablet. Everyone else in the house is on the 2.4ghz wifi, and my desktop is hard wired. But with QOS my 5ghz network wasn't getting the download I should. I ended up flashing the Merlin firmware for the router and everything seems to be working like normal again. Guess I'll continue to keep an eye on it and if nothing else I'll downgrade to the last "stable" official firmware I was using.
