Urgent Help ! Bought Online Seagate ST4000DM005 instead got ST4000DM004....Is this Bad ???

´beautiful the 3-2-1 method, but the disk is new and i have no reponse about the meaning of these smart values and if my new disk is healthy or not.

I've bought a new Seagate Barrracuda (3 days ago) ST4000dm005 (4GB model) instead of ST4000DM004 because the 005 is newer and i think it's a bit faster:

Actually the ST4000DM005 model is older (2016 model) and the ST4000DM004 model is newer (2017 model).
The 2017 model uses only 2 platters instead of 3 in the 2016 model.

We always advocate with ANY storage, especially if you're nervous about the health of the drive (really it should always be done regardless) just make sure and back up any important data in order to protect yourself. The go-to strategy is the 3-2-1 method:

Have 3 copies of your data, stored on 2 different mediums, and 1 somewhere off site to protect against disaster.

Sorry if off topic, but this is why I bought the 8TB USB drive from BB. I have two identical 6 bay NAS that are kept in sync, and that data backed up to the 8TB. I think this is a good strategy - two similar NAS synced and a single large drive kept off site.

Or how about your company stops being shady and reports proper info, easily visible RPM data and such specs instead of trying to screw the consumer even more. Seagate should be working pretty DAM hard to get customer faith back after all the screw ups over the years and shady drives they sell that seem to die faster than any other company.

Providing value and clarification is a big part of the reason our forums team was brought on and developed. We are striving to help put users in touch with info and resources wherever possible and be an asset to these online communities. Part of what our team does is to provide information to higher ups about the feedback and trends we observe as far as what people would like to see, improving the stat sheets and getting certain details of them listed more consistently across different drives, among other things, is feedback we have received and have been passing along to the team. We hear you.

OK ill take your word for it and buy a Kingston UV400 120gb SSD. But its a TLC chip. I hope thats not too bad :)
Why not look into the Micron 1100 SSD (https://hardforum.com/threads/micron-1100-2tb-ssd-359.1954118/), or this one here:
For those of you here in Canada, just FYI these drives are being sold at Memory Express for only $429CAD. That works out to something like $330USD, it's even cheaper than what you would pay in the USA. $8.99 shipping. They give price protection also. They just refunded me $50 because the price dropped by that much since I bought mine.
??

Why cram your OS and program files into a tiny SSD (and force yourself to split them onto a slower mechanical drive), when you can have loads of headroom, and plenty of leftover space for when the SSD finally starts degrading?

I am so glad i bought my re-furbished Crucial 960G SSD like 4 years ago for $189 USD when they had em for a few weeks, thing still going strong and even today's prices come now where near it!
