Amazon Drivers Photographing Front Doors to Provide Proof of Delivery

Because random delivery people taking photos of my property isn’t creepy at all. I actually had one guy snap a picture of my living room. Idiot used a flash during the day and I caught him. Wouldn’t show me the photo on his phone to prove it was just the package either. Supposedly amazon “dealt” with it.

As for the USPS bs mentioned above about GPS it’s just so they can screw you over. I ordered a 1000 camera and had signature required for shipping. Got an email it was delivered and signed for while I was home on my couch. No package but USPS claims GPS shows delivered and the signature wasn’t mine. Their claim? Those readers suck. Either way my carrier just got a 1k camera and I got a police report. I hope they catch the fucker...

I have a 85lb Lab that let's no delivery driver within 100 ft of the house sneak up. He goes ape shit when UPS or Fedex pulls in the cul-de-sac. They don't even get a chance to ring the door bell as I've already been alerted and go out front to meet them. I don't even get sales people knocking anymore as they hear him and just keep walking. The few brave soles that do knock, usually back away 15-20 ft from the door. They always ask if he bites and I tell them "Only a few people" They usually just leave. He's never bitten anyone but I love to see their faces when I tell them he does. Luckily he knows everyone in the cul-de-sac and never barks at neighbors, just cars or trucks he doesn't know.

Last time I ordered a hard drive from amazon it never showed up, said delivered but it wasn't. It was UPS, and my guess is it was a substitute driver since the regular guy knows how to find my house. But even though this is a rural mountain area the replacement was sent by a private driver. Wow I was surprised instead of around 5pm it was propped up against my front door by 10am. Don't know if they took a photo, means nothing much as others pointed out, but I was impressed, I'm pretty isolated and while you can find me on google maps, the address still confuses people. I may have to rethink my dislike of this new delivery method.

yeah one of my co-workers has this problem as well with UPS.. his legal address puts his apartment in the middle of a high school 4 blocks away when using GPS.. so UPS drivers are too dumb to realize the only apartment complex within 40 miles that they passed was where the box was suppose to go and they mark it as delivered then mark the box as undeliverable forcing him or his wife to drive to UPS 20 miles away to pick up the box.. USPS and fedex deliver to his door without any issues..

as far as myself i use a motion activated camera on my porch so while the pictures nice it doesn't really matter too me even though amazon doesn't deliver where i live anyways.

That doesn't work very well, considering I have all my Amazon stuff delivered to a UPS Store box, because it keeps getting stolen from my front door.

Well, I've had last 2 packages delivered through Amazon Log. and both were lost for awhile,
after 5 days from ordering , and emails from amazon apologizing about late delivery , I canceled order.

So, at 815pm 7 days after order , I get knock on door and lady from amazon delivering , (I'm your first
ever delivery ! ) at 815pm !! I told her I already cancelled order and got credited back money already..

She didn't know what to do ,and finally scanned it undeliverable ..she said they just hired her , they need
more drivers ,and and her suv was filled with nothing but those phones ! Wow.........

Sounds like accident waiting to happen......

So, next day a 630pm got knock on door , another lady with same phone left it on porch and was walking off !
I called her back and said I cancelled this order days ago, she said well I was told to deliver, and she marked it
as delivered and was leaving ! She took package, and I told her I was calling amazon, don't want it delivered
on a daily basis ........

Called amazon log talked to lady , told her I don't want Amazon Log delivering my stuff , rather have USPS
or UPS delivering ....... she said she'd put it in the system , but no guarantee ...

Don't like the delivery service of Amazon Log... sorry.......

I don't blame them. I take pictures of my ebay sales including the serial numbers with the shipping label right next to it. And then picture of the item in the box with the proper packing to prevent damage, and then the box sealed up. This has saved my ass before.

Some peeps even shoot video. lol

Sounds like a battle of escalation, you need to have security cameras installed to take a picture of the person dropping off the package to make sure they don't take it again or you have some "evidence" that the package was stolen.

Big problem though is Amazon, as well as others have incorporated the USPS to do the "last mile" of the delivery especially if you live in a big city, hell there are UPS & FedEx hubs within 15-20 minutes driving distance too. So you can't even have them hold the package at a center, as that simply isn't an option in the shipping menu.

Genius idea. Maybe next thing they can do is take pictures of your car in it's valet parking spot... before they take your Model S for a joy ride.

This is great and all but it doesn't help me figure out who the fuck keeps stealing my shit before I get home.

I had two packages stolen last year. Thankfully Amazon fixed the matter on their end to make things right and make sure I got the replacement or a credit, but that isn't the point. I have to send all my orders to my in-laws now because some thieving ass bastard in my neighborhood thinks they can score some easy money off my wife's cookbook orders.

Really want to mail myself a box of literal shit and have a webcam set up to monitor the reaction of the fucker when they find out what's inside.

I am installing security cameras because of this. These fuckers are going to jail...

Yanno instead of taking a picture of your door after they drop a package off maybe they could give you a better window to when a package might arrive other than say "Later in the day on X/Y/Z" (if you're lucky enough to get that). Presumably they have a level of info as FedEx does where it plots out routes to minimize fuel consumption, so with GPS in the van you presumably can have a time window for arrival that gets smaller the closer the delivery truck gets to you. While for a great many people of "I'm at work" there are plenty of people who can work their schedules around an "appointment", i.e. my wife doesn't necessarily need to go out shopping until later in the day if we know a package should show up sometime between 12-2pm.
