This is a very nice price for a base level current gen AVR with all the features– It’s really missing nothing. If you need an AVR on a light budget - this seems an easy recommendation.

nice AVR but with HDMI 2.1 products on the horizon it might be better to wait...

Have the 301 which has a different DAC, so can’t speak to this unit’s conversion, but Elite products are built like a tank, and the UI on my 301 is the best Ive seen on modern receivers.

the 80 watts per channel killed it for me

If it was 120 watts per channel it would be 40watts more per channel which is 50% more power. 3dB is = 50%

3dB is mostly immaterial. It’s 3 ticks on the volume dial. For most people that’s actually inconsequential.

Most people don’t don’t know this but at the volume people talk at or listen to in a living room setting a speaker is using typically using fractions of one watt.

Speakers are typically 87-94db efficient at 1 meter with one watt of power. That’s actually loud —-all things considered. Every doubling of watts = 3dB.

For example: If your speakers are 90dB sensitivity

90dB = 1 watt
93dB = 2 watt
96dB = 4 watt
99dB = 8 watt
102dB = 16 watt
105dB = 32 watt (105dB is commercial movie theater reference volume dynamic peaks! (85dB is nominal target volume for average sound in a commercial theater))
108dB = 64 watt
111dB = overdriving this AVR.

Yes - at one meter.
You likely sit further away from your speakers than 3 feet, and yes you lose SPL as distance increases, but never the less, 80 watts can get quite loud, and 120 watts is fairly insignificantly louder as you can see in the given hierarchy above.

showing only the front of a receiver, how useless newegg.

this has pretty much HDMI and nothing else, so if thats what you need its good.

Has composite, optical, digital RCA...

...do we need balanced connectors?

Not sure what else? Legitimately asking :)
