Kingdom Come: Deliverance

I seriously can't win any sword fights, I really hope I can somehow get better at it.

go to bernard at the training ground north of rattay. and train with him, he shows you combos and ripostes. and you level your skills which makes it easier.

so... based on what you have seen, your opinion is that it sucks, and you want to argue it with people actually playing the game. ok, thanks for needing to share that with us

Hate to break life to you, not everyone agrees with other's opinions.

You guys finding combat easier or more efficient with KB/M or controller? I prefer controller for games like Dark Souls and Witcher 3, but just curious on this one. Bought it but haven't dived in yet. Can't wait.

I picked this up on PS4 Friday and been playing it all weekend (sorry there's no thread for this game over in the console section). Wow, despite the bugs and the garbage lock picking (it's nearly impossible on a controller and I've tried at a save a bunch) it's really good. It took me forever to get past the first quest due to the game glitching or freezing but I stuck with it. That's a hell of a prologue! Just when you think you're already in the game it actually starts.

Minor bug, and a question for someone who has progressed:
There's a murder mystery quest that starts in the baths at Talmburg. On my *first* visit there, exploring in between saves, the corpse shows up but the rest of the quest doesn't trigger. Has anyone else seen this? I assume it's slated to trigger later on.

Thanks I'll do that. Was hoping to able to get by mostly with archery but so far that doesn't seem like an option.

I get killed on almost every fast travel lol.

before training with bernard i was a close combat archer. worked really well actually. backpedalling and shooting better piercing arrows in their faces worked just fine

Agreed. Works even better on a horse.

I took out 6 or 7 cunans by the bandit camp with my bow (on foot) just backpedaling and going for the headshot.

*edit for clarity*
This was 6 or 7 cunans attacking at once, when I was poking about on my own. Even though I can hold my own with a sword against one (maybe two depending on their skill) opponent I'd have been dead almost immediately if I hadn't been knocking them down faster than they could run up and hit me.

It took some time, but I'm loving the combat in this game, it requires skill (on the part of the player, mashing M1 isn't going to work too hot) and thought. It doesn't matter how great you are, if you get jumped by 3 or 4 skilled opponents you're probably going to die unless you can keep them all in front of you.

Doing the same thing although I'm decent enough with my sword I can get that going, too. I'm starting to warm to that system.

The timing really works. If you hit that block at the right time in directional it's smooth, hits, and does a lot of damage. I definitely recommend everyone does at least the requisite training.

I got pretty far now but got hit with the save game bug attached to the robber baron quest. Like 80 hours of playing and I can't load any saves, the game just crashes. Apparently people have been warned to not complete this quest but I didn't see it in time (bug is the same on all platforms). I don't know if I want to start all over.

Cool they are adding a enhanced version of Save and Exit.

Games broken again, in Baptism by Fire after the fight with Runt he just lays there, no cutscene, and I'm stuck in the tower.

Worst part is that I beat him already, with the cutscene, and everything was fine until I fast traveled and ran into 3 people that killed me, I couldn't believe there was no save after that fight.

I am so pissed right now.

Seems like I made the right call in waiting for 27th when it will be released on GOG.com being DRM/Steam-free/no internet connection requirement plus slightly cheaper when it probably will have a couple of game breaking issues patched, already seeing two important patches coming out very shortly.

the price is showing as $59.99 for me on GOG, same as the Steam version...I wonder why the GOG version was delayed by 2 weeks to begin with...is that normal for DRM free GOG games?

It's only $47 from GMG which is considered a valid retailer.

Dunno about gog. Sounds more akin to them being a second tier outlet. Maybe the other places pay more than got gog do so they get dibs on early release.

Really thinking about shelving this game for a few patches. Just want to savor its best flavor. Maybe a mod or three thrown in.

I've had absolutely no problems playing it vanilla. Not being able to save when I want to exit is a little annoying, but they are about to hotfix in a save on exit system.

I haven't had any game breaking bugs minus a few weird animations from the NPC's every now and again. Nothing that breaks quests/gameplay.

I really would stay away from mods on the first play through as most mods will just be making the game easier.

Taking on a bandit camp without being able to save scum makes the game that much more exciting to me. The consequences to fucking up are that much higher so investing in poison, etc becomes worth it.

Likely delayed to get more people to buy the game in the first two weeks since once the GOG DRM-Free copy comes out the game will be super easy to pirate.

Here it's 59€ for the steam release and 49€ for GOG. But I just prefer to support the GOG platform DRM free stuff and download setup files to your HDD style, not that I care much for a 10€ difference.

I got stuck on a fence while jumping my horse over it. Could not dismount or anything. Little bug but things like that. Probably still going to play lol.

I'm glad I held off buying to see what folks are experiencing. I been working pretty much every day this month anyway so free time isn't much. Anyway sounds like if they get a few patches out its going to be a really good game.

2500k is holding back the gpu in several games now. Bf1 and the new Ass creed for example. Big time difference bw the 2500k and something like even a 4770k. Games want more cores now.

I went from a 2500k to 4770k btw. I was having bad fps drops in bf1 and the 4770k solved that. Deliverance has fps drops too. I think that is more optimization than anything though.

i just got to talmberg, and every time i try and get to the bastion to speak with that officer guy they arrest me on the spot. no idea why...

I was being taught how to pickpocket by the guy at the mill when he suddenly walked off a short distance, came back, accused me of trying to pickpocket him and called the guard on me.
fml, another 2 hrs of gameplay lost.

I admit straight out that this is the game that i played most in the last couple of years. Why? Because it just tells me a story and not some ridiculous insane, over the top story but a story that a normal person can relate to.

Many things seems "real", in a way that you can identify yourself a lot with the main protagonist. But then again, it stays a game and does not become too tedious and too much work or grind. It really has a great balance between gameplay and realism that i had not found in any other game in the last 10 years or so.

Yeah - It gets back to what used to make more open RPG's so much fun, but you also have modern graphics. AAA studios should take note of the success of this game.

AAA games don't give a damn. It has all become about monetization. Turning games into a revenue stream. Sad really. Maybe not all games are like that but most sell DLC. And the DLC... is often crap.

Just imagine this game as a AAA title... $9.99 Theresa courtship dlc. Oh you'd like to USE that cuman bow you picked up? Just pay $1.99.
