By request here are some hardware pics and screenshots from my last month or so of competitive benchmarking at HWBot. I've been benching for the Pro OC round 3 and a combo of new school and old school, benching for hardware points.

Some of the benchmarks are old and there are a couple that are quite new and very demanding on the CPU

Do you only bench on LN2? I've been considering getting a phase change cooling setup to play with.

Only on LN2 now.

I started almost 10 years ago with watercooling, that led to a single stage phase change, which led to a dual stage cascade, which led to dry ice, which got me to strictly LN2 today. :D

It's much easier to be precise with your temperature control with LN2 than any of the other sub zero methods.
 
sweet thread, I've always been interested in the extreme OC stuff, did single stage phase change years and years ago for a laugh, but it's so niche there really isn't any insight into it.

Hope to see some more posts about it like setup, testing results, how long it was stable, blowed up stuff haha.
 
Length of stability is directly proportional to time spent preparing for condensation prevention and of course humidity %. :p

Typically the rig will run for few hours before a problem pops up, which is almost always water on the hardware.

I've ran a 4x SLI rig with Shamino in San Fran for 5+ hours non stop before, but the low humidity and good prep had a lot to do with it.

What is that big black heatsink? VRMs on one of the video cards? Does that get the LN2 treatment too?

That is the VRM heatsink for the GTX 580, it only gets a delta fan strapped to it, no LN2 on it.
 
Whats the green paste like stuff around the chips?
Is that to protect the solder points from moisture?
 
Those GPU pots are interesting as hell, never seen GPUs under LN2, I figured to do so you wouls use a PCIE riser to lay them flat

The green is liquid electrical tape. It's used to create a barrier against condensation.

I've seen it done that way as well, but there is some 3D performance loss when using a riser cable.
 
Why don't yall put the pc inside a box flowing nitrogen or some other inert gas through it with the pots sticking out the box? You would have next to no water vapor or condensation inside the box

It's been done. Usually called a "cold box" but it's too much of a hassle to get set up, especially when you're changing hardware as much as I do.
