I'm in need of a newer Radeon Video Card and I'm looking to spend $250 or less shipped for it.

My wife and I play WOW and the new expansion pack coming out has us both needing newer video cards to be able to play the game.

Radeon Vega/RX Vega, RX 500 series, RX 400 series, R9 Fury/Nano, R7/R9 300 series, and R5 200 Series are the higher end supported video cards for the new expansion.

I looked up the 280X series card, and it was like 1/2 the performance of the 480X cards. I probably need a 480X or 580X card to be on the safe side for performance aspects.

Please let me know what you have. - FOUND A COUPLE VIDEO CARDS....Thank you for this awesome forum!!!

I've got an R9 280X 3GB for sale in my thread if you are interested.

Mining on a video card- you are going to get a variety of answers on that one. Some algos use core and some use memory, the latter being "better" for the longevity. Some advocates say it is better for a card to have been mined on than heavy gaming use, as the temperature stays consistent over time. Some say the heat is bad for the cards and its better to get a used gaming card. Personally, I say away from mining cards that have been used on Nicehash, though normal mining cards are fine. My logic is that mining on one algo keeps the heat stable, and most miners keep their cards cooler than gaming anyway. Nicehash cycles through algos a bunch, and might cause more wear. All IMO, FWIW.

^^ Bump for you, he pretty much nailed it. If you do buy from a miner make sure to check heat as they have likely offloaded mining cards before, most people on here should be fine but I wouldn't risk it on Ebay. Also, ask about the firmware on the card, a lot of miners will flash their cards to use even less power and create less heat on certain algos, which is better for the card long run then gaming as they pamper their cards by doing this, but it can affect gaming performance if it isn't flashed back to stock (or has dual firmware on it). Any miner worth his salt should still have the stock firmware and should be able to flash that back for ya, wouldn't hurt to ask for a GPUz screenshot showing that it's back to stock either if you want to be thorough.

What resolution and detail settings are you expecting to run the game at? I don't play but everything that I read about the game is that it requires a lot of CPU power for higher frame rates. What video cards are you playing the game with now?

Right now I'm still on World of Warcraft Legion because BFA is not released yet, and I have Radeon HD 5750 video card on my Asus Sabertooth TUF armor 990FX R2.0 Mobo, AMD FX 9590 8 core factory unlocked processor running at 4.72 Ghz, and 24 GB or RAM.

I want to be able to have good FPS while playing and not just having a card that is at the lower end of the spectrum for gaming.

I've gotten a few offers via PM, and I've responded to them, but people are not very quick and replying back yet.

Anyway I'm still looking for (2) video cards - probably a GTX 1060 6GB dual fan NVidia card for my wife's PC, and a RX 480 8GB or RX 580 8GB for my PC. I'd like to have cards that still have a warranty on them and ones that haven't been mined with.

IMO, you're probably better off waiting. Lot can happen to crypto between now and BFA release in late Sept. You just have to keep a watchful eye (maybe add BTC/ETH to your stock tickers). When the crypto markets dipped in late November (and coupled with BF sales), there was a brief ~2 week window where you could pick up a Vega64 for $460-500 and RX 580 8GB for $230-260.

Yeah it’s a bad market for buying a GPU now to play a game in September.

Next generation of Nvidia cards will be out too, long before BFA. Add in the high cost of cards right now and it's a bad time to buy.

I have a feeling that the new WOW expansion will be out before September though. I bet it will be out around June or so.

Horrorshow is right. It makes the most sense to wait a bit for GPU prices to adjust. Right now most of the cards used are now selling for more than thery did new.
Having said that, the 280X is light years faster than a 5750 and should run WoW really well.
