Yet another Flash vulnerability has been discovered: this time, it’s a zero-day involving Microsoft Office documents embedded with malicious Flash content distributed via e-mail. A patch is planned for this week, but in the meantime, wary users may enable Protected View to open documents in read-only mode.

Adobe said a critical vulnerability (CVE-2018-4878) exists in Adobe Flash Player 28.0.0.137 and earlier versions. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

Flash can't die soon enough. It's ridiculous that we're dealing with this plugin crap in 2018.

Lol, so I need to open an office document from my email? Hard pass.

Man... 2020 can't come soon enough... PS, thanks Microsoft for building into the OS out of the box for Windows 8+ OSs... Dumb dumbs...

Thankfully, I don't have Flash player installed, I use Chrome for a browser, and I have a Flash blocker in place. I do all I can to avoid Flash. I advise the same to everyone else.

Too many flaws and vulnerabilities in Flash, looking forward to its future demise.

Turned it off a few years ago. Can't wait for its funeral in 2020.

Oh, Adobe WILL find a way to extend it past 2020. Just you wait.

Not that I'll notice it anyway, as I unistalled it some time back as well.

People have been looking forward to its demise for years. I don't think it's ever going to go away as Adobe won't let it.
