While this CEO sure looks like a Dingus, this whole GPU situation is a simple demand outstripping supply thing, and the only entities that can realistically solve this is AMD and nVidia, by producing more.
It's a bit more than that.
AMD / nVidia order the chips
TSMC / GLOBAL own the factories that fabricate the chips
Shin-Etsu Handotai / SUMCO produce the wafers for chips
Now, There is a silicon wafer shortage, because Shin-Etsu and SUMCO do not want to needlessly expand capacity. They were burnt by that before and are playing cautious.
This very same silicon wafer shortage is also part of the reason for the recent RAM prices.
Add to this the sudden speculative mining boom and AMD / nVidia not wanting to commit to uncertainty and you have this total shit show that is now.
