"Hot Deal" Gtx 1080ti Strix $899

I saw this happen about a dozen times on various cards. Each time i was to slow to make it through checkout. I did end up with an MSI Duke 1080 ti finally.

God I hate miners, and here I thought that people were idiots for buying high-end cards at MSRP.

What's the best website for in stock alerts? I just need a video card at MSRP since mine went out.

I'm really considering selling my Strix, just because I can get the Titan Star Wars edition for what I get out of my 1080ti - ridiculous.

I was thinking about that as well. I had a couple of 1080s I sold for $500 each to a member here. I'll probably hang on to that cash and get if I can whatever high end Volta comes out.

Makes me wish all the more that I bought a couple of those MSI 1080-ti trio cards at Microcenter last week. Guy had just put them in the case with stickers = $799.99. Day or two later MC was throwing all their paper fliers in the trash so they did not have to honor the deals shown there.

And that's the other part of this. There's a lot of hoarding going on, why not buy GPUs at MSRP and flip them?

Same card was listed on their page at $1,399.99 two days later. My visit was near closing time, so thinking they probably pulled them off the shelf next morning.

Have to admit I was tempted to contribute to the problem at hand and flip them. Did not feel like the hassle and just walked out with the HDD deal I was there for. Would have been nice to fund that new carburetor for the GTO with profit though.

Once you take in consideration EBay and PayPal fees, plus the slim but ever-present risk of getting screwed, is it even worth it?

I guess you could also sell on the for sale/trade board, but then you're screwing a fellow member with an up-charged GPU.

These things are drop dead easy to sell these days though.

Last time I met up with you in person to do a FS deal, you lived at least 2 hours away from a MC :p. That being said, definitely flip them unless you want to meet up and do another deal at or around MSRP ;). I need a 1080Ti for my 4k monitor, but can't afford one :\

The risk of getting screwed on Ebay is nearly 100%, usually foreigners that use package forwarding businesses as addresses or assholes that issue a return get their money back and your card got "lost" in the mail.

Or they "mine" with it for the full 60 day return window and then try to return it as defective.

^^ Must be thinking of someone else.

The comments about fees and scammers are why I decided not to mess with a flip. Never sold on eBay, only by word of mouth, CL or FB groups. Yeah, FB. Local yard sale groups have been good to me. Recently sold an old but never used Chevy stick shift bell housing to a guy for top dollar. And he was tickled to have it. But that is getting off topic.

I think I sold you a Celeron or Pentium processor a few years back. We met up at a cigar shop to make the exchange unless I'm thinking of someone else. $899 might be worth it if you're still local in NEPA.

It's back in stock. Looks like whomever bought it for $899 has relisted for the low low price of $1500.
