First, there is so many people I need to thank. I would like to thank my parents and friends for support, to hang in there when it was tough and my wife for giving me the credit card

After three long grueling days of pressing F5, setting up alerts, nowinstock, pcpartpicker, newegg.com , amazon, ebay, bhphoto, classifieds, etc etc. 4 different times cards would appear in stock, id add them to my cart and then as i check out they would vanish. Sooo frustrating, i had a 1080ti founders in my cart at least 3 different times because i bungled on the quantity, payment info someone beat me to it. Generally cards show up in stock and were gone within 2 minutes. Then a few times an UGLY PNY showed up for a ho hum price -- like $849 and i was like ehhh cheaper then everything but its a blower style PNY...

MSI 1080 TI Duke $899 with a free motherboard that i dont need but will use.

Protips: Be logged into all your vendors, have your payment method ready to go and make sure your F5 key is in good shape ! good luck on your hunts.

Sweet Christmas.

Wtf is the Duke? Looks like a STRIX rip off.

pro tip

sign up for TXT alerts from nowinstock.net. by the time the e-mails arrive it's too late, but the txts work. I could buy multiple cards everyday if I had the will to do so. Also EVGA FTW Elite Club status could get you a card or two a day.

I had signed up for email alerts, but i never actually got an email to my inbox or spam folder. Ended up getting my Duke by hearing the alarm on nowinstock website then clicking the link.

something wasn't setup right? My inbox is absolutely flooded with nowinstock.net e-mail alerts - but because of how hard core these things are being sought --- by the time the 5 minutes has passed to receive the e-mail to my Hotmail account they are LONG gone. Most of the time you can catch it by text message. I've just come to the point I've got all the cards I want right now. Volta is right around the corner. I still think early Q2, and it's going to smoke pascal for mining. 40-70% faster, and 1/3 less power. So buying Pascal right now for mining purposes is getting questionable after say January. For gaming the 1080TI is a fantastic card -- no harm there, but for mining Volta with GDDR6 is supposed to be next level.

15% over MSRP is a really great price. I would also jump on it... but wait! I don't think I have paid anything over MSRP in my life tho. :(

Not at this point in the lifecycle of tech product normally. But tons of PC tech these days is either experiencing little depreciation or hyperinflation. A set of the used RAM in my sig rig is selling for $1700 on Amazon. I paid less than $300 for it new on Amazon 18 months ago. I've never seen anything like that in 25+ years of PC building.

It's pretty much the same as any other MSI card, but it has a 3 fan cooler, and is a little thinner than the 2 fan ones.

I really liked the 1070Ti I had with that cooler, right up until it died after about 8 hours of use.

LoL, yeah. I sold my 8 1080s and was going to wait for Volta. Then i read "Ready player one" and wanted to use my oculus Rift again... and only had an AMD 6770 or Geforce 730 graphics cards. I am still watching for 1080 ti founders at $699, but otherwise trying to wait for volta.

I snagged 2 EVGA SC2 Hybrids today for 819 a pop. I have been trying to get a deal going at a decent price with some [H] members and was in finalization stages with a couple of them. But I guess, that won't be required now.
Given the STRIX is 779 MSRP and usually around 799 on Amazon and 899 on Newegg, I think paying 20 extra for Hybrids should be a good move for me.

Fingers crossed that the pumps don't die after 6 months as have been experienced by many Newegg buyers.

I count myself very luck for finding a 1080 Ti right before Christmas AT MRSP. Snagged that shit quickly, I didn't care that it was a complete garbage cooler (Asus Turbo). An Arctic AC3 install later and the thing never gets over 65 degrees now:)

I have considered selling my TI and then buying the Kingpin from EVGA but I do not want to get stuck waiting for months so I decided to consider myself lucky to have purchased a 1070 founders back in the day for 475 and sold it for nearly the same. I then purchased a 1080 For MSRP and did a step up to my 1080TI at MSRP in September. I am glad that I did.

Between inflated prices for graphics cards and the Intel bugs it’s a great time to sit all of this baloney out.
Still trucking on my sli gtx 970s. I don't know if I'll be able to snag Volta but we shall see...

It's amazing how quick the prices shot up. It was easier to get my 1080ti FE at launch than now.. And cheaper! I've considered selling mine, and waiting for Volta.. But who knows when that will finally happen.. I forsee a lot of 1080tis for cheap in a few months once summer electric prices kick in and everyone stops mining.

My Zotac GTX1080 Amp just sold on Ebay for $685 shipped. Bought it for $400 here last May. I don't have much time for gaming lately and I couldn't resist the markup! :)

I thought about it, since I have a spare Gtx 780 in the closet. But I could resist the oculus VR bundle.. I can't give up that sweet VR life for a year. (Realistically getting the Volta is a probably a year away)
