Nvidia Cards unavailable for the next three months - as fabs switch over to manufacturing Volta?!?

Yeah kinda got lucky. They're going for closer to a grand now. Couple listings for around upper $800 range though. Still more than the first one I got off Newegg.ca though, that one was around $700. Still crazy money for a graphics card but it's the current reality I guess.
lol,

I think he was saying the opposite --- in that $800 was too much to spend on a 1070. Your ROI will be a long time out, and that's if profits hold. The 1070 is only making about $4 a day right now.

It's weird to think that over a year ago my friend was trying to sell his 1070 used and he sold it for like $275 cause no one would buy it for $325 on these forums. Now $800? 1000?

Right now they are going for way more though, unless you are lucky enough to happen to land on a retail site for the few seconds of the day that one is in stock.

Wait... some guy selling em for $115. I think he literally just put the listing there. Seems fishy... but what the hell. Just bought one. Was going to buy 4 but he set a limit.

Go get em while you can!

Funny how, with alts down and profits down going on 2 weeks now, there is a much longer delay before that is reflected in the availability and cost of new and used GPUs.

so you meant $800 CAD. can't be bothered to figure the conversion to real money. :p

that listing is a scam, the account got hacked. even the pics are from other auctions.

Yeah I'm starting to wonder myself. Price is way too low I should have known it was fishy. Though how does that work exactly, like all of those other listings are low too, they'd have to hack all those accounts as well if they want to go change prices on people's listings so that it shows up on that one. I guess if ebay has some kind of vulnerability that they know of to gain access to accounts they can just repeat it.

Paypal seems to have put some kind of hold on it, so definitely fishy at this point.

Ok so just canceled the payment to be safe. I got too excited when I saw that and acted too fast.

That's because theres not as much correlation as people like to believe. Pascal's didn't go extinct just because Nist5 was riding high for a few weeks, and smarter miners aren't going to kneejerk-return or sell recently bought GPUs just because revenues have settled down.

Revenues could cut in half and then in half again you still won't see the mythical "flood of GPUs" that frustrated gamers and naysayers insist is right around the corner "cuz the bubbles gonna pop".

Also, smarter hobby miners and certainly the commercial/industrial operations aren't looking at USD/day as their profit/day metric because it's unimportant. And they are more than happy to take GPUs off the hands of panicked noobminers that mono focus on Nicehash's USD/day display and think "I'm making less than I was a few days ago OMG sell my GPUs".

In those kind of price ranges I'd be willing to sell every card I own. I've had full ROI on basically everything I've bought. I'd switch to either just buying coins or staying sidelined for a bit while I wait for supplies and double the size of my farm.

I have another six 1080tis on their way. Most likely start selling off the 1060s, although, the 3GB doesn't really fetch enough to justify breaking down the rigs.

I've considered selling my twelve 1060 6GB cards I bought in mid q4, for a nice profit at current ebay prices, to upgrade to a 1070 or 1070TI rig.

I could probably get $350 a pop, after paying only $285 each -- what with the shortage and annoying quantity limits -- but they are making $30-$50 a day, and operating very reliably - without much administrative effort - so it's more likely I'll just let them run.

The teetering concept is how rare it is to get more for hardware than you paid for it in resale value --- and that window of opportunity is likely very small. IE - might have dried up entirely in another month or so.

In the end, yes they'll be worth less to resell if I wait, but they are doing what I bought them to do, and it's nearly impossible to get cards in significant quality to replace them.

Did you buy it at $800 USD or $800 CAD (~$640 USD)? I hope it was the latter.

Was $800 Canadian. When I managed to buy off newegg (all the Canadian sites were sold out) I got it for around $700.

If I count the rig itself I figure around a year ROI at this point. My hope is that the coin value goes up, but everyone is saying it's going to crash. So I'll just ride it out and see what happens. It's not really a loss at this point with only 2 cards as I could just do a kick ass SLI setup. :p Is there even any games that would benefit from that right now? lol
