Does iOS 11 have a memory leak?

Ever since I updated to iOS 11 on my iPhone 6s, it appears there is some sort of memory leak happening. Basically, if I open the app-switcher and scroll through the available apps, there is massive stuttering and jerkiness. It gets worse over time till it gets so bad that the phone automatically re-springs. After the re-spring, the phone is smooth as hell, even in the app-switcher. Then, over time (several weeks to a month) things will get progressively worse till it re-springs again randomly. The jerkiness and stuttering is only happening when I scroll through the apps in the app-switcher and not when using the phone normally (such as in apps).

I even went through the pain of completely wiping the phone and restoring it as a new phone with iOS 11.2.1. It was fine for a while and then the iOS 11.2.2 update came around and it is back.

What should I do? For the record, I don't notice the same behavior on my father's iPhone 7 that is also on iOS 11.2.2.

I'm running 11.2.2 on a 6s - never noticed the same type of issue. You may have a hardware related problem.

My iPhone 7+ also had to be restarted once a day since the 11.2.2 update. Typically it starts with one app freezing. The OS is fine for the most part. And after a number of app freezes, I cannot launch any more apps. So I have to restart the phone. 11.3 can't come soon enough. 11.2.1 was very stable in comparison to 11.2.2.

Iphone X and 7 Plus work fine here. I haven't noticed anything and I haven't changed my phone usage habits since long before I owned them.

Off. I have the 128 GB model and have 116.43 GB free. I only have 8 self-installed apps on the phone.
swear to jebus thats whats fucking it up. They did something weird to the way apps cache in the background, and i couldnt get my damn phone to work right with that damn setting off. Try turning it on, see what happens. But yes, i think they did something to background caching that has screwed things up.

But won't enabling that option mean apps that I haven't used/opened in a while will get deleted automatically? Not sure I want that.

By the way, the lag in the app-switcher (when scrolling through the available apps) got so bad today that the phone did an automatic re-spring. Now everything is super smooth in the app-switcher. But it's only going to be like this for a while since the lag will slowly return.

How is your battery? It could be your cpu is being throttled if your battery health has degraded below 80%. You could try taking advantage of those $29 battery replacements Apple is offering because of the throttling controversy, if that indeed is your issue.

Unfortunately we won't know if we have a battery issue until the next major update comes out. But, fortunately, iPhones will actually be updated... LOL.

You can take it into an Apple store and have them run a free diagnostic. It’ll give you battery health and anything else that may be wrong with it.

I don't have bible studies or worship at Apple store... The whole genius bar shit just screams assholes to me. So unless I know I absolutely need to walk into an Apple store, I'm most likely not going to. I'll wait for the next update that will show my battery info.

That update won’t give the same redout the Apple store will give. They use external diagnostic machines to determine more than battery health, it’s also free, they also aren’t allowed to sell you on anything.

iOS 11.2.5 has been released. I updated my phone. Let's see if it makes a difference.

So far so good. I've tried opening my whole entire daily collection of apps. No crashing or lagging yet

Update: Still stable after 24 hrs. So I'm thinking 11.2.5 is quite good.

Well, the app switcher lag did return and got real bad yesterday. Overnight the the phone re-sprung itself. Guess I'll wait till iOS 11.3 where they are supposed to fix quite a number of things.

That happens with my ipad air 1st gen but not on my iphone 6s+

At times my pad takes ages to change apps, sometimes it will auto close apps or even basically shutdown and show me the apple icon you get on bootup.

Mind you, the ipad has been dropped and flung against awall by accident when i was making the bed, so it could be because of that, oh just to add it also drops wifi connection alot, but that could be cuz of my router, but most new ios versions i have noticed make your devices slower and slower, i have noticed that happening on a few ipads, think apple does it deliberatly to force us to upgrade.

Apparently the issue fixed itself. I haven't had any lag in the app-switcher for about a month now.
