Amazon currently has a special purchasing 1 3 Month Xbox Live card for $14.99 and you get a 2nd code for free.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004VSTQ2A

So 6 Month for $15 (if you are succesful with extra orders that would make 12 Month for $30.)
Also some people upon redeeming the code on Xbox's website is being offered an extra month free with setting up auto renew. You can redeem that offer also and then go directly in and turn off auto renew.

(Note: From SlickDeals some people doing multiple orders didn't receive extra code on orders after the first. Other's stated there extra code from orders after the first took time to get. Some people not receiving codes after initial order are doing live chats and having mixed results of either getting refunds and keeping the code or getting the extra code from the rep.)

I just did this, and did not get a second code for free. I don't see where it says "get a second code for free" either.

I did however get that extra free month for turning auto-renew on (turned it off right after).

I can't help but think this is not a good deal. Unless for some reason you get a 2nd code then it is, otherwise this is still for $15 which would end up costing $60 for a year when you can find $45 12 month Xbox Live Gold memberships.

I'm chatting with a rep right now on Amazon to inquire about the second code. Worst case, I got 3 months for $15. Where are these $45 per year memberships you mentioned, I'd be down for that.

Xbox store had a 1-month for $1 deal a few weeks ago, that was pretty great. I'm always on the lookout for these things, since the only times I use my Xbox are to play online with friends (otherwise I'm no the PS4). Right now, I'm good until July of this year, with a 6-month (+1 month added to that, so 7 months) card unused. I should be good for a while.

Ok, update:

We'll see in 24 hours then.

Yeah the deal is over now. From what I was getting while at work during the day. Was the $14.99 price was supposed to be if you bought an Xbox One also at that time. But they where matching the Buy 1 3Mnth card get 1 Free that BestBuy and Gamestop had been doing.

So while it lasted the $14.99 price for the 2 cards = 6 months for $15 = 1 Yr for $30. with a bit of YMMV on getting things to work.

But either way the "deal" seems to be fixed now. I ended up with 11 Months for $16 after tax.

Ok, update on this. After talking to the second guy (after waiting more than 24 hours, per the first rep), I was informed that I would receive a response within a few hours of what was causing the glitch. I went away for the weekend however, and after opening up a chat just now to inquire about the issue, I received:

I'd like to inform you that I've received a correspondence from our technical team and I'm sorry to inform you that due to a technical glitch two promotions got stacked on the same item, one promotion was to buy the item for $14.99 and the second promotion was at a price of $24.99.
I've checked and see that you were charged $14.99 ( discounted price ) and this is the reason why you haven't received an additional code.
In this case, if you wish to cancel and wish for a refund for the order, let me know I will assist you accordingly.

In any case, I'm getting a refund. $15 for 3 months isn't that great of a deal.
