Ryzen & Hyper T2 Question

Hey guys,

This is the first time I've used a cooler that didn't come with a CPU (because Ryzen didn't come with them past a certain point). I got a Hyper T2.

I can't seem to get the cooler to line up properly over the CPU. It's supposed to though right? So I should keep trying? though at this point I'm going to need to clean off the thermal paste and apply new probably.

But no matter what I do I can't seem to get it on there directly above the CPU covering the whole damn thing. I've got the exhaust going out of the case (as opposed to into it) and don't really want to reverse that.

But yeah - it's not okay that it isn't lining up, right? Or is that normal? Pain in the ass. I'd remove the old thermal paste with alcohol? After trying to put this damn thing on the CPU 5 times it probably needs fresh.

It should be centered on the cpu. Try to slide the heat sink down til it's centered even if it smears the thermal compound it should be fine. I had a similar issue years ago with a heatsink on my athlon x2 6400 where it would slide up when tightening the bracket.

Yeah, I've tried 5 times but I haven't wanted to get too rough with it -- but if I am 100% sure it should line up (and can), I will be a bit more forceful.

Thanks for the response. Haven't built a computer in ages so I'm stressing a bit, hah.
