I haven't run F@H since some time in the early 2000's, but have decided to join back up. I have to say, it's a lot easier to get up and running now.

I always think about joining, but my measly g3258 would be useless lol

Folding@home is efficient with pretty much GPU only right now. Most members suggest to put your GPU(s) on FAH and then use your CPU for World Community Grid which is CPU only right now and has lots of worthy projects. You can sign up here and then download the software:
https://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=1049322&teamId=BP5XNJBR9N1

You will want to make sure you save at least 1 core / thread to keep your GPU on folding@home happily fed. This can be done under the "computing Preferences" section in the BOINC manager once you download and setup. auntjemima your G3258 might not do much for FAH but it can get some decent work done on World community grid. Welcome to the team GhengisKhan!

Well when you reach whatever goal you want in F@H let us know as we could use your GPU in our Formula-BOINC race this year. http://formula-boinc.org/

Team is currently in 1st, but we could use some help in the GPU projects as that's where we're the smallest.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this question, but does F@H stop when my PC is locked? I usually lock it when I'm not sitting there, and when I unlocked it this morning my CPU usage graph in Task Manager showed that my CPU wasn't being utilized until I unlocked Windows, where it jumped to 90%. My GPU on the other hand, was still steady at 98% (for the past 5 minutes that it shows anyway). Am I missing a setting, or what?

Never been an issue for me. Just make sure you computer never sleeps or hibernates. did you have task manager open prior to unlocking the computer? Last but not least you can check the log tab in to see what progress was made. it records each step in the process and timestamps it.

Yes, I had the Task Manager open before hand. I always leave it open on monitor #3. I looked at the log tab. Since the GPU was running, I gave up before going back far enough to find anything CPU related, or I just didn't recognize the difference.

Well assuming you only have 1 GPU and 1 CPU in your system the log should be easy to read.

FS0 and FS1 will be your CPU and GPU (not necessarily in that order). You'll just have to look at the advanced view to see which Folding Slot the GPU and CPU are assigned to.

Then when in the log separate FS0 and FS1 to see what the CPU and GPU are doing while you lock your rig.

Just make sure the CPU Folding Slot leaves 1 full core open for the GPU.

When I get home I'll see what I can figure out in the log. It folds on 6 of the 8 CPU cores, so I'm good there.

Well, I didn't lock my computer before leaving for work, and I have no idea what time I unlocked it earlier, so going through the log file will do nothing for me. I'll lock it when I go to bed tonight, and look at it again in the morning to see if I can figure out what is going on.

Aside from that, here is the Web Control page as it stands right now.

What is EOC?

Also, I just figured out that F@H is still running when the PC is locked, but Windows doesn't record the CPU utilization. The log file shows continuous activity for both CPU and GPU while my system was locked.

ahem, technically its the [H]orde and welcome to the team. As for EOC there's an app called HFM.net (current version 0.9.8)which displays your progress, speed, credit, PPD rate, ETA, etc. with links directly to the EOC and Stanford sites. Its handy, easy to configure and you can track additional machines if/when you add more. I just leave it open on my desktop for quick reference to my small farm.
