Prices of Radeon RX Vega 56/64 are about to go back up!

Think of it this way, if people hate crypto and say it has no value, then don’t call it money. So there is nothing wrong letting your asset the Vega 64, generate more assets (crypto).

Yeah, I had been looking to build a new mining rig but GPU prices are too crazy now. But I realized I have a ton of computers in my place I'm not using all the time and I can put them to work.

Got my Vega 64 CF rig running NiceHash today, bringing in about $14/day. I have another machine I have to fix Windows on, but it can probably get similar profit with 1080 SLI. And I have a Titan X Pascal I was going to sell, but I could hook it up and mine too.

No need to hate, get on the train!

some of us cant afford the ticket.

The 580, 570 are not available for individual purchase on Newegg. There is only one model of 1060 and 1050Ti available for individual purchase on Newegg at this time. Oh, and obviously the price is jacked high.

I must be the only one in the world not mining on my Vega 64.
That might be telling you something ;). Then again you maybe have better things to do and plenty of money not to worry about more.

I certainly am not a high roller that doesn't care about money.

Okay guys, you've convinced me to try this mining thing.

Edit: What do you guys mine on Vega? Ethereum?

just get started with nicehash, that way you are a part of a pool

Any pascal or AMD cards are fine, different algos for different cards.

Whelp, got a bit of tuning down on the Vega, chugging along at around 43.5-44 Mh/s on 850mV core using Ethermine.

Edit: Key was to manually adjust fan settings. Default was 400 rpm/2400 rpm Min/Target. What happened was GPU temperature was always sitting @ target (75C) and throttling, getting me around 40 Mh/s. I changed the min to 1600 rpm (about ~25% speed), and now I'm getting around 65C GPU.

It really makes me wonder who the f*k designed the software to be like this. Target temperature should NOT be throttling so severely. I'm probably going to change the min for my gaming profile and see if I get better FPS. Because in Overwatch 1440p/Epic, I'm barely getting 100+ fps in matches.

Yeah, this is the case for gaming too. Stock fan profile is designed to be quiet but not effective. You can gain a good 10% fps (or more in some cases) without overclocking by just setting fan to something high and making target temp a bit more so it doesn't throttle.

well bitcoin crashed from 11k to 7k today so these cards will then be existent and affordable at SRP...

No one is using these for Bitcoin. Now if other currencies crash in turn we might be in luck

It's back up to 8800. All 4 cryptos on coinbase went down at exactly the same time. These markets are being manipulated by bad actor(s).

It falls at the feet of Raja. Master planner with limp execution. It's like under his direction they did not even try to tune Vega for efficiency as a final product. smh

A lot of people using the four Coinbase currencies as trading pairs on GDAX, this causes them all to fluctuate at the same time.

I think he had a fair share of blame, but this random driver tuning is too minute a detail. AMD overvolting their GPU's has been a wonderful tradition since at least the Tahiti days.

Biggest problem, IMO is the lack of ROP's. 'Baby Vega' (e.g. the i7-8809G with Vega M) has the same ROP's as the Vega 64!

Ficking ridiculous. One RX580 for sale at Best Buy for $610. Next week maybe we see some stock come in at reasonable prices.
Edit- Seeing pricing come down on RX 580-70s at newegg. Maybe channel is getting stock replenishment.

The drivers do need work. The RX480 I have lets me switch between crypto and gaming workloads with one click, but that is disabled for my Vega 56. The Vega is supposed to automatically detect and switch based on workload, but it fails to detect Cryptonight mining and only works with Ethereum. If you want max performance for Cryptonight you have to install beta drivers from August but then I had issues gaming with them. Sigh.

Ok dumb question...

Why are Vega64 going for more $$ than Vega Frontier (on eBay sold). Isn't the Vega FE literally the same thing, except it has 16GB memory and it actually mines better?

People don’t think to search for the FE cards.
