No matter your thoughts on Apple, its Apple Park construction is impressive no matter how you look at it. Seemingly the best way to look at it is by "illegally filming it" with a drone flown by Duncan Sinfield. He has been catalogging its progress since August of 2015.

Check out the video.

Apple Park In Cupertino is open! Much of the large construction equipment has been removed from the campus as it is no longer needed. Landscaping gets a finishing touch.

I really only watched the video because it was "illegal."

I feel like wearing a leather jacket and drinking cheese wiz straight from the can while listening to heavy metal.

If no one gets the reference:

I'm impressed by the HUGE amount of dirt - not covered with grass. Must be a California thingy. When it rains - it turns into mud. Mudslides, anyone?

I was kinda expecting a statue of jobs in the middle of the park

They're putting his face on Mount Rushmore. Any more would be tacky.

Although they could buy some of those civil war statues and then animoji his face onto those. That would be cool. They could say they were recycling.

wow it looks 3d and fake.... neat architecture though similar to round castles/forts in asia.

What grade worker do you need to be for access into the central garden. I somehow doubt that can handle all 12,000 people traipsing around on the grass every day at lunch time...

Impressive building. I can't help but wonder if we'll see something from Borderlands if the campus is somehow attacked....

Made intentionally "not tall" so that more would survive fall from the top. Apple, always thinking about those they employ.

Looks impressive, are they solar panels on the roof ?? if they are there will be a lot of MW generated there !!

Its amazing what you can build when you dodge your U.S. taxes in over-sea shelters. I would bet I paid higher taxes on income in 2016 than apple did, according to New York Times Apple paid an effective rate in 2016 of 9.8%, that is quite a far cry from the 35% they were responsible for.

So is this the figurative Earth's asshole Apple plans to fuck just like they do with their customers?

Amazing what you can do using child labor, finding ways to not pay US taxes, and making 40% profit on your products. Pretty good formula if you can pull it off. Steve Jobs would be proud. The complex is beautiful indeed and represents all I hate about Apple.

where are those observatories you see at the end?
Lick Observatory up Mt. Hamilton. It is a no drone zone...

About 45 min from San Jose. Awesome drive if you have a performance oriented vehicle and are fortunate enough not to get blocked by law abiding citizens :).

I got to visit their HQ's a few years ago. Mind you, they are incredibly security conscious so I only was able to see a few rooms and lobbies. (I've been to military bases with less security.) . The areas I went to were just regular offices - seemed cramped, nothing special. I'd love to get to visit the new HQ someday although I suspect it won't look much different on the inside than my first visit.

I love the look but I have to be honest. A circle isn't the most efficient shape to facilitate human travel. I would imagine its quite the walk.

Why is it illegal?

It is Apple private property, you are not in a “public” place. They have not given you permission to film no have any employees who might be in the footage. Likewise, trade secrets and all that.

Well considering they constructed it in the US, they paid a hell of alot of local taxes to contractors etc and created many jobs in the process... try again.

They could have just as easily built in another country or tax haven and paid important staff to relocate if you would have preferred that. The whole site was a reclaimed wasteland basically.

It's easier to just ask what is legal in CA.

Visited the Apple park and all around the bay with my drone a couple weeks ago.

Nice video! This is what I imagined Flight Simulator would one day be like, till MS killed it. Lots of things are legal including pot now.
On topic:
Are there secure rooms under the park? You know where they dream up their next big thing in secrecy and plan to take over the world?

And as every drone operator (FYI I'm not one) will tell you the air space above private property is not private.

Ok my snarky comment is <spins the wheel of snark>

"solar panels"
"trees"
"disney hype"
*click click click*
"H1Bs"!!!!

Well that sure is a lot of expensive views for what will amount to a fuck ton of H1B workers.

Flying above private property and spying / recording video footage are very different things. You have no legal right to record footage of private property / interiors. No one flies a drone recreationally over Apples HQ.

It is no different to walking into some random companies bulding and starting to record video of their infeastructure etc.

Its nothing more than a self rightous dickhead breaking laws for Youtube views. There are many laws also governing flying around building and people. What if the drone failed and hit an employee or damaged a solar panel etc, guarantee he would just do a runner.

I agree with the consensus of the folks that see it as a an ergonomic inefficiency. A wheel without spokes doesnt really work. If it was a fitbit building its easier to understand. Workers build walk points daily and at the end of the year the top ten get a nice bonus.

If Jobs were still alive he would have added connecting spokes - a x shaped monorail connecting the cross diameters of the building.

Not an apple hater, just see where some design flaws seem to be.

..do you hate what apple has become, or what they once stood for. Two guys in a garage with an idea that put workable PC's in the hands of the consumers that status quo didnt say they wanted.

Doubtful if not for Apple starting the 'want', that IBM would have gotten into it and now the dominate PC business is of IBM's design.

The history of 'John Doe, everyday consumer' PC business started with Apple. Gotta give some credit, even though enough of what you said is true - to a point - for their part. Now pocket PC's<smartphones> at crazy profit margins, drive their 700 billion in the bank. Yeah, something to be said.

Jobs designed the building, well at least invisioned it, watch the presentation he made to the council not far from his passing.

You have no idea what the enterior entails lol, they may segways to get around or even escalators. They arent stupid.

Quick, throw your Samsung / Pixel / whatever into a fire while you're at it. Don't forget your motherboards.
