Escape From Tarkov

Well, sigh. I thought I had found a game I could really get into.
Decided to kit up really well, headed into the shore. Took out all the visible SCAV's around Rock Passage. Was crossing the small bridge over the stream by Rock passage. My screen starts to shake and blur as I cross the bridge. Absolute silence. I thought maybe I hit some barb wire or something, continue across, screen still shaking and blurring, now screen is getting blood splatter. Still absolute silence. I'm like what the HECK is going on, make it behind some cover. Still absolute silence. Right before I died, I see a SCAV hiding behind some cover and threw a silent grenade to finish me off. I'm like you've got to be kidding me... lost all that gear to a SCAV shooting me and throwing grenades with zero noise.
Then re-kit, do another game/dserver. Came across SCAVs that were standing still. Shot them in the head, zero damage. Started to walk away, no SCAVs near me, silence. It happens again. Screen shakes, blurs. Another silent death.
I know the game was in Beta but this is game breaking bad... Absolutely no point in playing.
There's a known bug where scavs become invisible, along with their shots. If you're standing still and notice screen distortion (like you're getting shot at) chances are you're getting fired on by an invisi-scav.

Another bug is where you shoot a scav dead center in the face, they just stand there. And then they fire at you with the aforementioned invisibullets.

I also saw a fully kitted out player get two tapped with a pistol to the chest with the worst bullets in the game. Some bug having to do with the game not registering your armor when you load in, so you need to take it off and put it back on.

So many weird bugs, but eh. Alpha

Oh god ya I guess I've experienced all of those issues. Problem is they aren't just a nuisance, they are game breaking. You are in the "this is an Alpha disguised as Beta camp"? ;)

And the floating scavs are even better, wasted 4 mags, and heard every shot hit, only to be hit by one of those pesky silenced nades..

I really want the game to succeed. I'm just very realistic in saying it's a buggy mess currently, and the majority shouldn't buy it in its current state unless you're buying too support the devs

Another shitty battle royale game with crap netcode? No thanks

It's not even close to a battle royale game o_O

Not even close?? Is it a game where a certain number of people start and the last man standing wins? Yes?

Sprayingmango No, the point currently is to extract from the map. You can do this at any time you are able, and you don't even need to get into a firefight at all. In release it will be more like an open world game with all the maps connected rather than instanced. It has rpg elements and player progression as well as loot and an economy, quests and a few other things. It's pretty far from a battle Royale.

Gotcha, thank you for the explanation.

Ok so escape from tarkov finished product will be a large open map with a stalker feel to it and there will be a story line with the main theme of escape from tarkov. There here also missions from traders I beleive that the traders will also be in the game at some point so you will have to travel to a in-game location to access them. You will eventually have a in-game safe house where you will be able to have all your loot and stuff.

Eventually there are supposed to be 200+ weapons in the game. Right now there are only a few maps that will be part of the whole open world on release. It's got the best gunplay of any game out there right now (imho) and it really shines when you have a group working together. Eventually every thing will be persistent like injuries, infections, weapons wearing out and getting dirty, eating and drinking. currently there isnt much besides eating and drinking in the game and health, weapon, and food persistence havent yet been implemented. The in-game med system doesnt currently have animations its just basically a timer bar and when its done that part is healed but fairly soon they said there will be animations for that (like applying bandages)

You have quite a lot of skills you will be able to lvl up based around every thing you do like endurance, strength, metabolism, wound treatment, stress management, etc. And they are perishable skills so if you don't play for a long time they decrease up to a point. Though if you level up a skill like memory or metabolism to max level you wont lose skill points when you dont play. You can either play as your main character, or as a scav (scavenger). You can play as a scav only once every 30 min. But you start with random gear and anything you acquire in raid and extract with you keep. But you gain no experience. Eventually scavs will start with random health so they could be fine or they could have a broken leg or something.

I disagree with the comment that its a buggy mess and not worth playing. It has its issues but they are not game breaking or bad enough to make me not want to play it. have put in over 200 hours in the past 2 resets. 66 since the last reset. I have only personally encountered the the invisible scav glitch once and that was due to the servers being kinda fucked up during the stress test. They are currently adding servers to resolved the longer queue times and stability issues. I would say that the most annoying issue for me right now is the issue with grenades dropping at your feet when you try to through it out of a window. its pretty random and they mostly fixed it last patch but it still happens occasionally. When issues pop up the devs are pretty good about resolving issues quickly. at least compared to my experiences with other early access games I have played.

$30 for the standard edition.

You can buy various other editions that will give you more starting gear, stash space, etc.

If you don't buy one of the fancy editions, can you earn more stash space later in the game?
There's a whole lot of mystery surrounding this game to me and I want it bad.

The plan is that in release a larger stash size can be earned by questing, and currently you can earn a larger secured container via quests with more options being added in the future for this

I'm personally not a fan of the editions. I'd like to start from scratch and build my way up. You get a ton of shit and better traders when you spend more money, but at the end of the day you can earn all of it yourself with the standard edition.

I'd recommend buying the standard edition first, if you really want to try it out. You can upgrade to the other editions if you end up liking the game.

I've played hundreds of games in my life and dozens of alphas and betas. Tarkov is a buggy mess. Still worth playing though as there really is nothing like it out there. It has this unique character.

I bought the standard edition and then upgraded to EOD later. I feel like I got my money's worth. Most of the gear in the EOD edition can be purchased or found on a map, though being able to turn the fort and kiver in for the quest makes life easier to begin with. Though that quest and the others will be changing based off of Dev responses. Also 30 cans of tshunka can go fuck itself, tons of raids still need 6 cans. Hate that quest so much

Three games now I've died from a single shotgun blast insta death from 20+ meters away in the factory. I'm seriously getting sick of this crap. Makes the PUBG horrid netcode and RNG seem tame.

Rocking PACA, or atleast 3m?

No, as a SCAV. Not sure how NPC SCAVs can kill you as a SVAC with a single shotgun blast at 20m. As a player SCAV you surely can't unless it is a slug to the head. As for PACA, instantly gets bought out. I guess people just sit there for hours refreshing Fence. Fun time.

You can buy paca from peacekeeper and skier at level two or three I think. Fence is flawed as he only has what players sell him and some other random crap

What is the easiest way to level these traders up? Seems to take forever and massive amounts of buying.

Skier just buy and sell shot gun barrels back to him. But then you need to complete his first quest.

Peacekeeper, just buying dollars with rubles

Fence dont worry about

Prapor I just sold all my shit to him usually, and his tasks are pretty easy.

Therapist Havent dealt with her yet

Release larger stash sizes? No but you can guy a larger secure containers in game. And you can get a larger container from completing quests (on square smaller than the gamma container.

And at level 4 with skier and therapist you can get weapons cases and armor cases. Which are 2x5 and hold 5x10, and 4x4 and hold 8x8 respectively.

As for getting killed by shotguns in one shot, it's not net code it's you have no body armor and you get shot with a big ass gun. Happens just the same with pmc's. Also if your a scav just don't shoot other scavs and they won't shoot you.

Ya buy stuff from a trader and sell it back you since selling and buying count toward the amount needed. Doesn't cost that much in the end.

Also therapist gives the best prices on any thing you can sell to her so bit coins statues and shit like that sell to her. Skier has the best prices for selling attachments though he will but any thing as long as it's in a backpack. And gives better prices than prapor. We'll every thing else to parlor or peacekeeper. Never sell to fence since he give shit prices.

Tried buying and selling the same items like gun barrels. They buy them for like 45% of what you bought it for. Basically lighting fire to your cash.

No they are giving a way to increase stash size in game at a later date, per the devs which is what I was referencing. Either by using in game currency or by questing. It will likely be included with the release of hideouts

Oh nice when was that put out, Recently? I must have missed it.

I'll tell you one thing, starting the game as a new player in which it's mature (been a while since a reset) is only suitable if you are a masochist.

Let's go over the hole you have to dig out of:

1. 9 out 10 PMC's you will go up against are Fort/Kitted M4 super soldiers who make you vaporize. (And these players mostly started at reset, meaning they didn't have to go up against fully kitted PMC's as they progressed, hence had a much easier time of it).
2. You have no trader rep so you cannot buy any armor or any guns that aren't shooting spitballs.
3. Many raids of gear and time are lost due to bugs/DeSync/Dying to silent AI.
4. Playing as a SCAV with a pistol or TOZ-106 is a complete joke versus PMC's and only good enough to kill AI SCAVs just so you can get a shotgun that isn't completely worthless. A shotgun that is worthless outside of Factory.
5. Leaving the most effective way to level yourself and traders being hatchling runs in factory (which I refuse to do because it's stupid as hell) but is completely ruined by 30+ minute wait times to get into said Factory.

This is a REALLY bad time to start as a new player. May wait for the next reset in which I am not up against prior reset advantaged super soldiers and hopefully many of the game breaking ridiculous bugs and desync will have been looked into.

Man I don't know what game your playing but it's not the same one I am. I have probably seen some one in fort like twice in the past week. Factory sucks an your going to die a lot intil5you know what your doing.

As far as leveling I got to lol 6 or 7 on my first run after this reset. And to lol like 3 runs later. So then i was lvl 2 with parlor and peacekeeper and had access to pace.

Queue times will be fucked until they get new servers added so play shoreline and customs depending on the queue times. All the new morons play on factory. So the servers are overloaded and queue times are torrible.

You just aren't playing smart. Avoid players or pick your battles if your low geared and try to find a ak74 on the map they always spawn with a full mag. There are shitloads of them on shoreline

And complaining about people who play more having more shit isn't a valid agument. It's like saying people that played wow longer than you have better gear and an unfair advantage. This game gets resets every month or two so next reset you will have a level playing field.

Hatchet rums work pretty well and I do them all the time even though I could bring armor and m4s. Since there is no risk with a decent chance of reward.

If your having trouble finding stuff look up tarkov keys it tells you where all the keys spawn are and what they unlock.

Yeah it takes time, LOTS AND LOTS of time.
The maps online make the game levels seem so much larger than they are, but in all reality they are almost half the size. They seem so daunting, until you get in and realize it literally only takes 10 mins game time to walk from one side to the other

Are you all on discord or teamspeak? If so lets get a [H] group!!

Where are you? Whatever server I'm connecting to from Washington DC, I find Fort/M4 players all over the place. Even in factory.

Are you saying you got to level 6 or 7 from one raid? That doesn't even make sense. How much did you play before this last reset? My biggest point is if you are exp'ing up after a reset, you are exping up against people who also are low level and have no gear. That is a massive difference to EXp'ing up yourself and traders running into players fully geared with top items. That should be pretty obvious.

Avoid players? Who plays an FPS to avoid players. And even if you avoid players, you have to kill SCAVs. That means a lot of noise. That means the Fort/M4/4x laser scope of doom guys come charging at the sound. Happens time after time. Are you saying avoid engaging players AND Scavs and just do loot boxes and escape?

New players are almost forced into hatchet runs. If this is what this game comes down to, I think I'll pass.

My first run after the wipe I hit level 5 or 6 off one raid, its not hard to get 8-10k exp for successful runs once you get a feel for the maps. What level are you? I'm not sure why you're having so many issues leveling up, at least until the mid 20s when leveling slows down. I have no other advice for you except to just play slower than you normally would, if you feel under geared start creeping around waiting to pick off people who were in firefights, or just harvest scavs and get out of the map.

Also, let me know when you're in game. If you need in game cash I will drop some rubles on you just hit me up in game. In-game name is GravyBoat09

I've killed many players and scavs in multiple raids, evaced and am only level 6. Did they maybe adjust the exp?

They adjusted it a few patches ago, how much xp are you seeing for a successful run? You also get xp for looting and many other tasks as well.

Don't know the actual number, but I've never gotten more than one level out of a raid in which I've looted stuff until my inventory was full, killed a player or two and some scavs and evaced. You guys are saying you got 6 levels in one game?? I must obviously be doing something wrong.

Only the very first game starting from level one, it slows down after. I'm at level 25 now and the grind becomes real. Just trying to hit 29 so I can hit the next level on some of the traders.

i've finally gotten the hang of this more. Still not great but better. I am pretty passive though. I try to be sneaky and if I can't kill on first strike I will run and live to fight another day. I also kind of stay away from certain areas of the maps as best I can. I also DO NOT touch factory which may be why I can't complete things. I think I'm level 18 now. A successful raid for me is probably 3000-4000 XP.

Still can't do Skier's first task. I have NEVER seen the armor needed to complete it.

I still end up not listening to my own rules in the game though to not get greedy. I die so many times next to the extract because I see something to loot or someone to shoot at and then I die.

If they could solve the desync issues and server drops/performance issue the game would be in a good place other than some minor tweaks here and there. Sounds like though they are going to make the game a gigantic chore to play eventually. Right now it is difficult without being a frustrating chore to play. they said they were going to overhaul the entire loot system and make things like guns much harder to find and you;ll end up finding pieces of guns. I feel they are going to make the game so narrow in scope for the sake of realism that it just won't be a fun game which seems like they have forgotten a bit about that.

right now factory and customs seem almost impossible to play. sit in matching forever. I've been playing shoreline almost exclusively anyway. Its the only map in the game that I feel conveys the best of what the game is supposed to be. large enough you can be sneaky passive if you want yet has enough area of confrontation if you want close quarter combat.

factory and customs are cluster fucks and customs needs a few more avenues to get around. it is so limiting unless you have a factory key.

That's this games biggest problem, there is no large open map like stalker or dayz which I thought I was going to get. The current map system for me really sucks.

thing to remember is each map only has a specific number of humans for each instance. it is also supposed to end up as an open world game but I really don't see that happening. They claim the game is "BETA" but its so far from any milestone they should still be calling it an alpha or tech demo. Its going to be one of those games that holds on to that BETA word for the rest of its days in order to use it for all the problems that will never get fixed or content that never gets added/completed.

I saw that too and I was like what? What a stupid idea. In a survival situation in real life you would find way more complete guns than parts of guns lying around. I mean who sees parts of guns just lying around buildings and on tables everywhere? Really stupid. Maybe a Russian thing. Virtually all guns are stored in a complete status. I think these devs are doing some of this nonsense just to say "we are so hardcore, look you have to put the gun together from 20 pieces we are so hardcore!"

and they are eventually going to have to dumb it down or else no one will be around to play it. I think even the hardest core followers of the game will eventually get bored of having to micromanage stuff so much.

I seriously feel they just give everyone two characters, one for PvP and one for PvE. PvE works just like PvP without the humans and maybe more scavs. You can't share between. Either that or they'll take the money and run eventually stating the game went in a direction they didn't like and the scrapped it.
