Great deal for those who are still on the x99 platform, or to get one when those x99 CPUS start dropping in price.

One of the top end x99 board, used to sell for $400+ with a crap load of features.

Looks like QC is lacking. There are as many 1 star reviews as 5 star reviews on that board.

Amazon’s reviews are a bit better and both tomshardware and tweaktown rated this board very highly.

Anyone have any experience running Xeon ES CPUs on this particular board?
 
I have used one of these before and never had any issue with it whatsoever. Very rock solid, and a good deal at that price for sure! I have used other X99 board with XEON processors without issue and would expect much the same for this one.
 
I would assume this board is close to the Rampage V extreme and the Gigabyte Designare so its a pretty good deal. Id get one for the hell of it if i didn't have to worry about a stupid rebate (or tax).

It looks like the Gigabyte is $169 with no rebate and has better reviews on Newegg and Amazon.

Probably a reason this Godlike board is $150 after rebate --- or am I missing something?

Just an FYI: The Gigabyte you gave the price for is used while the Godlike is new (though its out of stock).

I'm not sure if anyone else has had similar experiences, but I've found MSI mail in rebates to be the slowest by far. I had a $20 one sent in and approved in February, and it wasn't until July that the prepaid card was sent out (where it took 10 days between the "Payment Processing" status to "Payment Sent"). The following one, also $20, was sent in and approved in May that I just got the email today telling me that the prepaid card has been ordered and I'll be receiving an email when it gets mailed. And, I'm obviously still waiting for one from August and one from October. 5 to 8 months is too long, when I other ones from EVGA, Seasonic, Cooler Master, Corsair, etc usually only take 1 to 3 months.

People really should stop taking rebates into consideration when buying stuff. Fussing over 10or 20 bucks that you may or may not get is dumb. Most the time I forget to send them in cause I didn't have a stamp on hand lol. Other half one shows up from something I brought 6 months ago that I forget about also. I just treat is as a bonus if I get one some day. You people know how the rebate system generally works. Should be use to it by now.

Had this mobo since August 2015, as of last week my southbridge just fried. Before that this POS mobo kept frying my RAM, always the same slot too. Went through 4 chips, figured it was easier to get the chip replaced than the mobo since I upgrade every couple years and it was so infrequent. The only time it would fry was when the PC was powered off but plugged in for 2 or more days. This was with 4 different BIOS updates too. On top of this the clockrate of the RAM changes the PCI speeds, meaning if I wanted my NVMe SSD to work I had to put my DDR3000 RAM (125mhz clock) set to either 2800 or 3200 (100mhz clock), you could only set the clock to 100mhz or 125mhz, anything else would not allow it to POST. I just upgraded to a 8700K with an ASrock mobo and notice that my old mobo was running my Intel 750 SSD in PCI x2 mode, new mobo runs it in x4, went to the foums to get that resolved prior, no one could help. Even for this great of a price (I paid $550 for mine) I really can't recommend this mobo if you are in it for the longrun.

Yeah honestly, I did a lot of research and almost bought this MSI board, but a lot of complaints about things like striker444 mentioned, also seems to be picky about ram, and I wanted working m2 slots. Ultimately, I ended up with an Asrock x99 Taichi with a haswell xeon and NVME ssd.
 
I've had this board for a few years and mine has been rock solid. The bios is more easily manageable compared to the asus boards I've had in the past. All overclocking options on one page, which I prefer.

If you were running in 2x mode, you might want to look at the manual and make sure you are running in the correct slot configuration for your pci-e/sata connections. I had that issue at first, was quickly solved by rearranging. Don't remember which it was, if it was PCI-E or Sata. But if connected in a certain order, it would limit your PCI-E speed. Quick look at the manual and I was up and running at 4X in a couple of minutes.

Honestly, as someone who has only used mostly asus boards in the past, and jumped off during the OC socket fiasco, as well as the downturn in quality control they had during the Z170 boards, I was pleasantly surprised with the MSI. It's been a fantastic board for me. Set it aside, planning to sell it now, as I just jumped up to a X299.

Hmm.. board is now $99.99 after $50 rebate.. not too shabby.. too bad its out of stock.. might come back in before the time expires though..
