I have bad news for you If you've been wanting a Pixel C and were just holding out for a bit longer. The Pixel C has been dropped from the Google Store. It's not clear at this time what this means for Google and android tablets, but it could mean Google is done with this market and plans to push Chrome OS from now on. Only time will tell.

The Pixel C was an odd device. By all accounts, the hardware was originally intended to run Chrome OS, but Google couldn't get the platform ready for an all-touch device in time. So, the Pixel C became an Android slate. Google has been selling the device continuously since late 2015.

One dumb thing is the insistence that apps not be programmed to work with the wider displays of tablets after Honeycomb. Now when I use the Google app in my tablet I have to put up with half the entire screen being empty space because the app can't use two columns for stories.

I purchased a Pixel C when it first came out. I still use it at my work as my tablet. Runs everything great, even if it is a little rough around the edges.

Anybody got a link to the Goggle store? My goggles are all scratched up and I need some new ones.

;)

ROFL! I totally missed that one! Yo Montu is on a roll, or a bun, or smething. LOL! :D

Soooo, how many goggles does it take to make a Google? :D

Android tablets are awful. They don't perform well and they never get updated. Google should focus on ChromeOS and OEMs can make 2-in-1 and detachable Chromebooks with touchscreens. Why would you need an Android tablet with these available?

Why are people pushing chromeOS, Google has pathetic marketshare with chrome, the solution is for them to ramp up development of tablets and turn them into laptop replacements and just get rid of chromeOS which is as dead a Linux on the desktop. The future of computing is for one of these companies to come up with an ARM based desktop solution that is tightly integrated with mobile so they can leverage the same applications. That is how google starts to compete with Microsoft. Apple will try it too. But right when the market is getting ripe for this, IE we are seeing docking of android to desktop environments, and ARM SOCs starting to get close to low end Intel offerings suddenly people are talking about chromeOS? I just don't get it.

I don't disagree, pick one and push for it to expand, invest proper amounts of time and money.. make chrome os opensource ans let the public play with it.

It looks like that's where Google it headed with 2-in-1s and convertibles. Not really sure though if ChromeOS even with Android app support is really something the 2-in-1 market is big on but they do undercut the iPad and Windows devices in price.

That's far and away true. OTOH, I don't think it's universally so. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 because it had a higher-powered proc & GPU so I could play demanding games, and it has much better performance than most tablets.
