Oh hey the Echo is listed there as the first item! Kind of feels like Portal 2 being listed as a premier game being on sale... every sale.

amazon works hard alright. They work hard on delaying orders for people who dont pay for Prime. I pay the same price as other people do on that site for the same product, yet my order manages to languish around and not get shipped for over 7 days. All items in stock when ordered too. Yet because I dont buy into the Prime bullshit to yank more money out of me, my order doesnt ship for an extended. 3 times and its true common practice. Is my money not as good as other peoples? I dont buy the extra $77 plan so I get pushed aside? I spend my money with yet im penalized anyways? Yea fuck off. So, fuck you Amazon, and I will spend my money at other places for sure now. (and no i dont care about movies and all the other shit, im talking simply about scamming me for "upgraded shipping", doesnt do a person any good if you buy 3 times in a year, thats like paying $25.66 per order)

If you have prime you won’t just order from them 3x a year.

Amazon Prime is the single best thing I’ve ever encountered for shopping.

The Level of butthurt just increased.

Prime is awesome for me

There are monthly plans. $8.99/month for video only and $10.99/month for normal Prime. The $99/year is only cheaper if you use Prime more than 9 months a year. I personally don't have Prime.

Yeah I suppose it is. Pay the same or more than competing stores to get similar delivery speeds with the cool bonus of paying $100 a year. Or you know, just buy elsewhere and get your items for the space price with similar shipping without the annual fee. :p

My Amazon shopping has dropped because the prices aren't very competitive, the shipping times are terrible compared to competitors and they keep trying to shove Prime at you. I'd rather not give Amazon free money for the same prices/service, but each to their own.

The Amazon prime free shows aren't that bad though think of the shipping as bonus

We all find value differently. There are good deal and bad deals at amazon. Shipping for me is great. I get most things in 2-3 days. The prices are by far better online than in B&M stores. Being in a smaller town we just don't have the selection to choose from. So it works. Sure it is a 100 bucks. But if you are ordering a few things per month it is worth it. At least in my view. If I had the store selection I probably wouldn't have a prime account. If I was ordering 3 times a year.. sure it would not be worth it and I wouldn't be upset at the shipping times. There is probably a reason at that point it would be ordered though Amazon. It's a simple choice really. Use it or don't and deal with the delay of not being a member.

If you have an amazon credit card you get an additional 5% off.

If you want to waste your time registering at 100 different websites trying to save a couple percent off amazon — have at it. Enjoy your random 5 days shipping times and nuances of each order. I’ll pay the wee bit extra to buy from amazon EVERY time. I get my orders 7 days a week in two days from my order —- never fail. If I ever have a problem, Amazon takes care of it instantly.

I didn't see anything on sale now that wasn't on sale Christmas Eve, but I didn't get past the first 10 pages to get a real deep dive.

camelcamelcamel can fix all of your pricing issues with Amazon

and their CS doesn't, yet, suck like just about everyone else.

This. I still have Prime, but relatively high prices and no price matching means I usually buy elsewhere. This past year I placed maybe 10 orders with them. Amazon video sucks, quality is crap, have no use for this kind of service. The only thing that I actually use is their unlimited photo cloud storage. My wife takes tons of photos (new baby), and I mean terabytes, so it's nice to have an off site copy in case anything happened to my home NAS. I'm considering not renewing my prime account for the next year. Anyone knows a good cloud alternative, that costs less than Prime?

Walmart is the only other place that has comparable shipping speeds, when their employees get off their fucking asses and ship things when promised or their dumbass system doesn't wait two-three weeks to tell you that an item is out of stock despite the site STILL saying it is in-stock. As for prices, if its the same price I might as well use Amazon. Great CS and I've had Prime for years. Why pay $15-20 (or more) for 2 day shipping when it comes with Prime and I order enough shit from Amazon to more than pay for the price of Prime. I don't really have a local option where I live. The "closest" retail store is about an hour away and that's just a small Walmart. Anything sizable is over two hours away so its simply not worth the gas vs ordering online.

Prime in Canada is fantastic.

I can count on one hand online retailers that offer free and fast shipping with minimum orders under 100$.

Normally their customer service is great, but it’s failed me more than once.
I've always had great service when I contacted them. I am always polite and courteous on the phone or in chat, since you usually get what you want if you are really nice to the rep.

I even talked them into giving me a free game,

Where are you shopping that matches Primes shipping, returns, and items for sale? Pretty sure they beat everyone in an overall experience.

Canceled my prime membership this year(when it runs out) after having it like 5 years. Not worth it anymore.
$25 limit to ship something "free" now.
It used to be $2.99 ship anything 2 day, now its anywhere from $4 to $50.
Prime music, tv, movies..etc are all horrible and have absolutely no benefit at all to me.
99% of things that ship prime are more expensive than buying elsewhere, because they added in that "prime shipping" to the cost...after you have already paid your membership on top of it.....

Amazing customer service, always get my things on time, not worth $100 anymore though.

I was on the fence with keeping prime this coming year because price wise, I agree with other posters I have seen prices on Amazon go up as the "free" shipping has been factored in many items. I also noticed they are having a spat with certain suppliers like Disney so I can't preorder bluray movies from them anymore as they don't seem to show up in stock till months after the release date. But I will still end up paying for prime this coming year I am sure. It's just too convenient for me overall and as a bonus I get Prime video so it's worth it for me.

Did you choose free shipping too because it was over $35?

Man, I thought this was going to be a thread about great items that other like-minded people have picked up during this sale. Instead I find all this Amazon/Prime love it / hate it. At least kirbyrj posted a funny pic of a sale item.

Come on! What cool gadget did you buy? I need some inspiration to spend my gift cards on.

I happened to get two amazon echos this year for Christmas.

They are pretty cool little devices. I didn't know you could link them together, but yes you can --- so if you put one in every room you can use them as a PA system with the same music being broadcast to every room in sync. You can also make phone calls from them, and even call a specific unit directly. I have a three story house - so if I'm in the basement, and need to call my wife upstairs, I can just call her on the echo. We didn't have a intercom system - but these work great for that. At $30 a pop for the dot - it's worth considering. The integration with Amazon music is nice too. (assuming you have prime). I can basically say play any artist I want and it'll start playing their music. With seeing how the two went together so nicely - I bought a third, (one for each floor) and I'm tempted to buy more. One for each room we spend significant time in. The Echo Dot doesn't have great sound quality for music - I think the original Echo Plus they call it now (the taller tower on the V1) is supposed to have the best sound. The new Echo (v2) is okay for sound - not stellar, but passable. The Echo Dot isn't worth playing music on unless you are hard up, but it does have Bluetooth functionality to connect to a blue tooth speaker, or a line out if you want to use external speakers.

Prime isn't worth it if you order only a handful of times a year.

I remember 5 years ago they would ship same day without prime, however now expect between 4-7 days lag for any order without prime.
