If you want to believe that wayward Alliance paladin Leeroy Jenkins really did wipe his World of Warcraft guild more than 12 years ago, that’s fine, but a new video has been released to prove what should have been, as described by Ben “Anfrony” Vinson, “obvious satire.” Vinson, who was responsible for recording the iconic 2005 video, is still stupefied that anyone fell for it.

I am releasing this never-before-seen first take/dry run of the Leeroy Jenkins video in hopes of raising awareness about Net Neutrality. I've been holding onto this for over a decade waiting for the "right" moment to make it public, and then last week Ajit Pai created his awful/condescending video and it riled me up so much that I decided it was finally time to unleash this gem of Internet history on the world to do my part to help out.
 
I only ever hear 'Leeroy Naggins' when he shouts his name in the video. 12 years later that's still what I hear. Am I the only one?
 
Interesting. Reading the comments on the Youtube vid, it sounds like the event/wipe did actually occur but nobody recorded it at the time, possibly not having a ballsy enough system at the time to play and record at the same time. The video we all saw was supposedly a re-enactment of what happened. If that is true, it's pretty confusing.
 
My friend had recently started rushing into maps as fast as he could in Path of Exile with another friend and I, proclaiming Leeroy Jenkins! the first few times. I thought it was funny. Then he started dying a lot so now he's cut back.
 
P4L was racist as all hell.. just look at their names. Can't believe dude even admits to making that.
 
I'm pretty sure that horse rotted away years ago, guess they brought in a necromancer to raise it from the dead and beat it some more.
 
Why was it believable to some of us?

Because Prior to that I had spent years in one of the top world guilds for EQ and we had someone doing crap like that years before Leroy...we just didn't think to record it.
 
Same, was not original just first to be big.

I always think of leroy green from last dragon .

Same here! His name was Bearfoot...our guild leader. My wife had to play his templar once (my main was a templar) and we always wondered why he was constantly out of mana and yelling for illy feeds. Well, it's because ALL OF HIS HEALS WERE ON ONE MACRO. She was like, hey why are all the tool bars empty? Oh, just hit the two buttons on the left toolbar 1. uhhhhhh wat. But yeah, he was a Guardian and tanked for us, we'd all be talking about strat or whatever and all of a sudden it was go time, FOLLOW ME! Hey wait! We aren't rea...nevermind FOLLOW HIM!
 
I thought it was real at the time but later found out that it was just a staged joke video. Still makes me laugh... just like "Thats a fucking 50 DKP MINUS" still cracks me up when I watch that Onyxia wipe lol
