The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

I loved Roach. I mostly rode my horse to see more of the local scenery...

.

I really wanted to do this, but was immediately thrown into fits of rage whenever Roach would take a header into a twig-like tree and break his gallop.

Some of the terrain was fantastic to break Roach out for, but it seemed like most of the terrain confused the fuck out of him.

When I play The Witcher 3, I use a PS4 controller and set it to the Dark Souls control scheme. Makes the game infinitely more fun and Death March is alot more achievable

I generally found that combat is as hard are you feel like making it. Using the right powers at the right times makes the game manageable no matter the difficulty or command scheme. Powered-up Aard is pretty much death for humanoids. Quen allows you to take extra shots if you feel like wading in or just want an insurance policy. Igni is good for chipping organic enemies of all sorts. Axii can be used to turn huge mob groups into manageable fights. Yrden's not as good as it sounds, but it can make some quick/protected enemies more vulnerable.
If you fight enemies way above your strength, they're all going to be battles of attrition, so just be ready to hit and run around a lot.

Well, after finishing the main mission and a short period of Witcher 3 hibernation, I've returned to play Blood & Wine.

FUCK YAEAH BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the fact that Toussaint is visually different than the earlier game with it's brighter, sunny environs & people.

BUTT THEN - there are VAMPIRES!!!!!!!! This game is the GOAT - bar none!!!!!

PS: I also love the fact that the place is loaded w/ redheads! Some of them aren't even virgins! ;)

Its a great expansion, haven't played all the way through it yet. A part of me doesn't want to finish it :coffee:

I liked blood and wine, but the wine cellar quests were a cop out and just straight up fetch quests, I wish they'd done away with that aspect of the game. I like Blood and Wine from a story perspective, and the main story line was absolutely fantastic. I just didn't like the side quests as much as the main game, you can tell the team was taxed to complete this thing. Considering how much quality content is in the game I don't blame them, overall one of the best games I've played through in years.

The only mods I needed was "carry weight unlimited" mod :D

What mod by the devs are you referring to?

Having done a death march run not too long ago, what does it do differently - from an end user standpoint?

I also just replayed Witcher 1 with its combat rebalance too. Really loved it.

It's a total combat rebalance like they did with Witcher 2

Whats the name of the mod? I haven't looked at the mods lately since I haven't played in over a year, so I'm completely out of the loop.

Gonna start playing again sometime next year, I'm still working on my game backlog before I get back into the Witcher 3 again because I know I'll probably end up putting like 500 or so hours into it. Didn't even play Blood and Wine yet and I hear its great.

Did some searching, is it Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition?

Andrzej Kwiatkowski, senior gameplay designer at CD Projekt RED, has released a new mod for The Witcher 3. Andrzej was also responsible for the Full Combat Rebalance mod for The Witcher 2. As such, this can be easily described as a must-have mod for CD Projekt RED’s latest RPG.

According to its description, this mod has been under development for more than half a year. Moreover, Andrzej claimed that this mod doesn’t aim for any deep and intrusive changes. Instead, it aims to maintain original feeling of the game, sometimes going closer to original intention behind the designs.

The “Immersion and Gameplay” mod focuses mainly on fixing immersion breakers, buffing underperforming skills and items, cosmetic changes and bugfixing. It also fixes few instances of items and abilities that made Geralt immortal and removed all the challenge from the game.

Thanks conman, I actually saw this one while searching last night, but I only looked at the image and it looked like only Armor adjustments, I just read all the changes nexus page and it actually sounds like way more ;)

Finally started playing again this weekend. Hopefully I keep playing through til the Blood and Wine content this time. I'm playing without HUD and its a completely different experience, also playing with a controller, so I can kick back and relax (haven't done that in Witcher until now, still getting used to it) and ofcourse playing on DeathMarch. Was thinking of turning difficulty down to Blood and Broken Bones since I'm playing HUDless, but I know once I'm like level 10 or so the game will be easier so hanging in there. It's just a pain in the ass doing bandit camps at level 5 and getting my ass handed to me constantly by level 9 bandits because I'm still not familiar with the controller. Honestly have died less than it sounds like, maybe 4-5 times in the 9 hours I've played, but still putting off doing Wandering in the Dark until I feel more comfortable. Just been doing some POI's in the area of it near the coast. I can see putting another multiple hundred hours into the game right now. Really digging it with HUD disabled, I do have health bar/stam/adrenaline pop up in combat, just putting it out there so I don't sound like a nutcase, though I do wish there was some alternative to having it on. I did like how in Hellblade her "adrenaline" or w/e was displayed on the mirror. I need to find a solution like that.

Current mods:
- All Quest Objectives on Map
- Friendly HUD
- Nitpicker's Patch
- FCR3 - Immersion and Gameplay Tweaks <- this should be an official patch honestly

Looking for more mods that would add to a no HUD playthrough if anyone has any suggestions, I might browse the Nexus for some mods but really hate the new site layout, maybe I'm just not used to it.

The best gaming experiences of my life have come from the Witcher 2 and 3. I need to start playing the expansion ASAP. I got the expansion during a recent steam sale and haven't been able to play because of "life in general". Now that I'm reminded of how amazing the game was and have some time, I need to jump into it.

Well I got another 3 or 4 hours in and dropped it again. I'll let CDPR keep my money this time, I guess. lol

Some of the most memorable quest/story-lines I have ever experienced have been in this game. I have never been more torn than I was during the Bloody Baron quest-line. The Crones were downright creepy and unsettling. Trish, Ciri, Yennefer, Dandelion, et al are deep characters who drive you to develop attachments to them where you actually care what happens to them. Just a phenomenal game.

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

That whole "story land" portion of the game blew my mind...

I have been hell bent on the main mission for this DLC (unlike my wanderings in Wild Hunt) and will have to replay this to explore this countries side missions.

Finally finished the blood and wine DLC, it was pretty good, bit frustrating as my gear was a bit low, making me a bit too squishhy to my liking compared to the rest of the game, but that's mostly my bad.

You could probably fill a small essay with all the cheecky references in the expac like the "mere la chaisse longue" graveyard etc..

I finished B&W recently too & thought that after that WARNING - you can't do some stuff after this point - that it would be pretty much be game over in Toussaint, but alas, there is much more to do after completing the main mission... even tho some missions have evaporated... I got to play house w/ Yen & chase down 15 bandit / demons to make more $ and I ain't even close to being done yet!!!!

Also noticed all the Wild Hunt stuff I skipped in pursuit of the main mission is still in my Quest screen... even tho it also said WARNING - you can't do some stuff after this point...

I took a break after Wild Hunt, but now that I know I can still go do the "leftover" missions from Wild Hunt + B&W, I am going to jump into Hearts of Stone (rumored to be 10 hours).

GOD, I love this game.

It has made me sit back in my chair & applaud on numerous occasions, made me "literally LOL" (forgive the cliche) several times, and reach for a tissue & dab a tear from my eye a few times...

I guess I must have stumbled into "Hearts of Stone" somewhere during the Wild Hunt.

Basically - it's the story of - Olgierd von Everic & I've been there & done that.

I am going to try Witcher 2 now & if I get bored, I will bounce back & wander around W3 some more.

Lmah2x - did you play B&W yet?

I decided "f**kit" a few weeks back and picked up the GOTY edition on sale for 20$ or something like that.

I'd played the original The Witcher a while back and enjoyed the story, but the gameplay was so tedious I couldn't finish it.

This game is a completely different beast. I am 60+ hours in and I can't get enough.

Ya, I hear that W1 is a slog, W2 is less of a slog & I know for a fact that W3 is a MASTERPIECE OF GAMING HISTORY.

Keep going !!!!!!!
