Rosewill
Kingwin

I remember never wanting a rosewill power supply back in the day, but the reviews are looking ok for the newer ones. Are they decent units now? How about kingwin? I need a 1k unit for a mining rig, just wondering if these will do or if I should go safe with a corsair/evga as I always have. If I can save 50 bucks it'd be great though.

I wouldn't buy either one.

Corsair or Seasonic... Silverstone or Antec in a pinch

I've had great luck with my two evga units so I would buy another. The two brands I listed I'd never buy without someone telling me they're better than they used to be. Thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can get a seasonic in the same price range, just figure I won't be able to.

I don't think I've seen a Seasonic fail a HardOCP review yet, but I'm hardly the expert. It's rare that they don't win some sort of award.

They said they thought it was the best 1000w unit yet, showing little voltage variances despite different loads and high efficiency.

Depends on the model. both of those brands use Super Flower as the OEM for some of their models. Those are some pretty bullet proof units. Some of their units are made by ATNG and Huntkey. Those are imminent fire hazards.

As Jorona says, it depends. You have to do research on the particular model. Only use the brand for customer service/warranty comparisons.

Rosewill does not make its own PSUs, they OEM/ODM/whateverthefuck out to others. Some of their stuff was superflower (usually great) others enhance (decent/depends) others who knows. Kingwin don't remember or care really

You're going to have to do your own research if you buy from anything but a direct manufacturer. There are not many of those but plenty that pretend to be; even EVGA, Corsair etc have sold polished turds before trying to ride their brand name into every possible price point. Jonnyguru's site has teardowns for a shitload of different PSUs and you can trust their judgment, odds are what you want to buy is on there.

Lately I don't bother and just go straight to seasonic high end models (10/12yr warranty or get lost) because I'm a power snob and I run stuff until it dies: Buy once, cry once.
