The mother board is a MSI Z170A-G45 Gaming, G4400 cpu, Corsair Vengeance LPX ddr4 3000 2x4gb, Brand new Corsair AX 1200i power supply. MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X.

Just started rapid turning on an off. Does anyone heard of a pc doing this?

sounds like it is failing the cpu test. I would clear cmos and reseat the power supply connectors going into the motherboard. Sometimes when a motherboard doesnt get cpu 12v power it can do this. What psu is it?

Was it working before, or is this a new build?
have you done the remove everything, but the needed components?
tried swapping out components?
Checked to make sure every connection is snug?

What psu is it?

It's been running fine since I put it together in August this year. I was hoping it be something else then what I think it is. It happen when I built it. I replace the memory with another stick of the same and it fine after that.

memory should not cause such an issue traditionally. It would turn on and either give no response, or give a beep code for bad ram. If it is just turning off, you likely have an issue with either the psu, motherboard, or cpu.

Well I put the old stick back in and got the same problem, then I installed both sticks and it stop shutting off and got an error code 55 which I looked up and it says that ram is not being seen.

Trying removing the mobo from the case, place it on a non-conductive surface, install one stick of RAM you know to be good, make sure the RAM is properly seated, and try booting it up. If you installed the RAM with the mobo installed in the case the RAM may not have been completely seated due to board flex. Also, replace the mobo battery. Just a thought and hope this helps.

Found the problem. Dimm2 slot is gone bad. Manual says to always insert memory in Dimm2 slot first. And since I'm only using 1 stick of ram. I decided to add the other stick into dimm4 like it says. That is when it didn't keep keep shutting off. But error. So tonight I said wtf take sticks out and just put one into Dimm4, and it booted.

Thanks for the help.

If you only have the two pieces of RAM, it could be a bad one, but yeah probably more likely to be the MB.

If the one stick is bad itself. No matter what slot I put it into it would not work. But the fact that dimm2 slot is bad and causing computer to keep shutting off is messed up. If I didn't try the dimm4 slot I would thought the ram is bad. I did a little more searching on google and there seems to be a problem with MSI z170 boards with bad DIMM1 an DIMM2 slots.
