Doctors Find Brain Abnormalities in Victims of Cuba’s “Sonic Attacks”

New medical testing is showing that American victims of mysterious attacks in Cuba have abnormalities in their brains’ white matter, which is responsible for rapidly transmitting brain signals critical for learning and cognitive function. In August, diplomats and their spouses stationed in Havana, Cuba were targeted by "baffling weaponry" that were sometimes marked by piercing noises or vibrations.

It’s the most specific finding to date about physical damage, showing that whatever it was that harmed the Americans, it led to perceptible changes in their brains. The finding is also one of several factors fueling growing skepticism that some kind of sonic weapon was involved. Loud, mysterious sounds followed by hearing loss and ear-ringing had led investigators to suspect “sonic attacks.” But officials are now carefully avoiding that term.

Since it's affecting the brain, there may have been no actual sounds at all. With the right stimulation the brain can see, hear, feel and taste things that aren't happening.

Other countries have their own opinion about the resumption of relations between Cuba and US, and just want to stir up trouble?

A weapon like this is pretty much untraceable. At least until we can figure out how it works.
 
Sounds like one of those cold war type of experimental weapons. Either that or something out of Fringe (diner in small town, she creates microwaves with toxins in her brain and fries other nearby people's brains).
 
It very well could be something different from sonic attacks. The people could be experiencing auditory hallucinations from a different effect, such as some sort of fluctuating EM radiation. They experience it as an auditory event, when in fact it wasn't. I couldn't speculate as to what else might cause that, but it is in the realm of possibilities.

Or maybe the episode where they were broadcasting the signal that kept outsiders from seeing the genetic deformities of the locals.

Fringe was a great show, shame the pulled it from Netflix.

someone that's been known to work with Cuba in the recent past. Someone who was accused of using carcinogenic tracking powder on US personnel at one point, someone who was found to have installed hundreds of listening devices in an embassy they built for the U.S. hmmmmm who could that be?

Directional sound weapons that sonic weld the inside of your brain. This is old technology. Didn't y'all ever watch that show on TechTV way back in the day? I really miss that channel.
