NVIDIA TITAN V $3000

Lol, I am pretty sure any halfway decent neighborhood would not even allow a car like that to be parked outside. Then again maybe you have better things to spend your money on than a decent house in a decent neighborhood too...

Do halfway decent neighborhoods have something against the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis other than it resembles an undercover cop car since I have a white one? Seriously dude, just because it's older doesn't make it ugly or undesirable, otherwise no one would want 60's Mustangs...

I wonder how much they would do on ETH if someone figures out how to use the tensor cores for mining. I could pay out for itself pretty quickly.

Fuck. My fiance's wedding dress came under budget by about $1500 and I just got a promotion at work... I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on this, it'd pair up nicely with the 8700k and NVME drive I just picked up.
I would wait till after the divorce. If you don't, she will own half of the card (which means you either give up the card, or your system it is in).

How do you see 3? There is the GTX Titan X, Titan X, and Titan Xp. All different names.

Kyle's quip is that the name is correct because 'V' stands for "Volta."
I stand corrected. I didn’t recall nVidia actually differentiating between the previous 2 X models and the Xp in an official manner.

I also understood Kyle’s quip and was merely explaining it.

Kyle's Quip sounds like some kind of coffee shop with too much argyle, trimmed beards and macbooks. :p (and maybe some diesel Jettas parked outside.)

Huh. I was going to get four and put together a quad SLI setup, but since there's no SLI bridge, I guess that plan is out the window. Otherwise, I would've bought them. Really.

;)

Gddr6 384bit version in March. ;) This is not a gaming card (Titan v).

Slimmer chance of January.

Yeah, its best to wait for the "Gaming" editions, I'm still using a 980, its been so hard to resist the upgrade to the 1080. I will be getting a Volta though.

Hmmmmm. I am having an Asus Strix 1080Ti OC Edition on order from Amazon and I wonder if I should cancel it.

Consumer Volta will likely be out inside of a few months. I wouldn't pony up top dollar for a 1080ti at this point.

Hmm maybe I should keep the money on the side and get a 1050 card just for the next 3-4 months ( I also have a GTX 780). It won't be till mid January that the system I am building will have all the parts so I can fire it up.

Buy it, I'm sure game devs will support tensor cores like they support greater than 60fps and sli.

It's all perception. I have neighbors with sizeable in ground pools, nice cars and $10,000 pirate boat playgrounds for their kids. I update my car somewhere around every 15 years and they are pretty beat up by then. But I don't have debt. I'm pretty sure they can't claim that.

It's all about your priorities in life. Mine is to make sure my kids have a college tuition, and I have a comfortable retirement, or if necessary to retire early.

So don't judge someone by the way they look. BTW: most millionaires still drive Toyota camrays and Tauruses.

Not sure about full Volta (they gotta gimp it somehow), this thing costs well north of most new Quadro's, except top end model. Yet, this is not a Quadro. Absolutely insane price though and still only 12GB VRAM, HBM or not... Gotta love the gaudy gold color too!

You are correct, not quite full Volta as another poster pointed it out to me.

The price is disgusting

Yes but also justified as there is zero competition. I'd save most of the tears for the pricing of non-halo volta products. Again - zero competition. The benchmarks so far are terribly impressive.

I think I may upgrade to them soon, what do you all think?

Considering it has just a few more Cuda cores than a 1080ti I'd guess quite a long time since 1080tis return is already god awful.
Only asics mine bitcoin/ltc (& many others these days).

Ethereum is "asic-proof" and doesn't really care too much about cuda cores but loves memory bandwidth...

From the Reddit gaming benches it looks like the driver isnt making full use of the GPU or it is CPU limited.
The CPU is a 6700K but no clock speed is referenced.

$1500 in GPUS ? Check
Another $700 in hard/ssd drives? Check
$75 for the rest of the pc? Check

Ready to game!!

(Sounds like a CL $2500 gaming PC)

There's a Geforce "Amphere" variant rumored to be intended for gaming without the Tensor cores and FP64 stuff. I'm under the impression that Tensor cores handle matrix math operations which aren't something games use. I'm not a software engineer, so I'm not sure if they're even something modern games could use Or even a case where if you had $3000 to spend on a card for gaming that it would make sense to buy it now for some future hypothetical games that totally love them some Tensor cores. There would probably be much faster cards for a lot less money by the time they're able to do anything.

I do want to see benchmarks being run on it of games nobody's going to buy one to play, though. :)

XP seems to be working fine, see no reason to upgrade.

How do you get SLI running a Core 2? I remember doing it running hacked drivers, but that stopped working once Nvidia caught on to what people were doing.
