Home Front (the game) FREE!!

FYI this game friggin sucks. Like three worst game I've played over the last 5 to 10 years

its the only AC game I've played all the way through. been waiting for it since I got the email the other day. currently working on AC:Canada(Rouge)...

game was kind of short, took me 4hours to finish according to Steam, and I'm pretty sure I was being slow because I haven't played anything resembling a shooter in a while. I can also see why there was so much bitching when this thing was released.

THX GUYS!!!!! Got the game free & loved all 5 hours of it. I will throw Humble Bundle a nice tip in the near future.

BTW - part 1 on sale TODAY for $5 (that's $1 per hour of game play).

Graphics were kinda' low fidelity // xbox looking, but frames per second were 60+ at 1080p high all the way + very "immersive" with tons of ambiance & relevant objects everywhere.

I really LOVED the premise of an invading force on American soil & it was very well done (even though we have a rifle behind every blade of grass).

The initial bus ride to the work camp reminded me of HL2's opening train ride & then it was mostly run & gun from there.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - but please note that it is a VERY SHORT game.

PS: I looked up the game engine on wiki & this game was created by THQ w/ Unreal Engine 3
THQ went out of business, so the sequel was made by Crytek w/ the Crysis Engine.

=========================================================
BTW - part 2 on sale TODAY for $7.50 & totally worth it if you like Crysis style & 30 FPS @ 1080p high.

I have 22 hours into this game now & I'm still loving (almost) every minute of it...

This is CRYSIS gameplay in a somewhat believable, reasonably plausible scenario with realistic looking environments vs. the totally over the top world of CRYSIS.

RECOMMENDATION:
Add these to your wishlist if you missed this sale & grab them both during the next round of sales!!!!!!
Don't take my word for it - go sample some gameplay vids & see if this game fits your tastes...

I am at a "turning point" in the game right now where I have to decide if I want to go forward in the story & leave all unfinished missions / items behind. I am going to go ahead & push forward into the story & replay this game as a "completionist" sometime (sure I am - have I checked my backlog?)

There is still a lot of stuff (red) that I still have to go back & do...

I just sat back in my chair & applauded a cut scene.

I've only done that for a very few games in my life (recently = Witcher 3 [lots of applause], Wildlands, newer Tomb Raiders)

Words ain't exactly my strong point...

I regret nothing... LIVE FREE OR DIE!

Finished the game last night.
Once you hit the turning point, it is a short ride to the end.

Great game.

If you are a completionist, you might want to go back and clean up your loose ends before committing at the turning point.

My 1st run game time @ default / normal difficulty was 25 hours, and after watching the videos above, I will definitely do a replay (it's very rare that I replay games) and either use a wider variety of the weapons on HARD or use only the pistol on easy (at least for a few levels) just to mix it up.

Apart from my weapon selections vs those used by ACG (guy in videos above), I basically played the same way he did for the first several hours - gawking at the environment & talking to NPC's until I was just drenched in the environment, then I got to a point of constantly tripping the bad guys scanners and turned paranoid and started playing much more stealth & sabotage mode - BUTT - I also found myself using the motorcycles and trying to explore the entire level before doing my mission - even though I crashed the bike or spas'd out and jumped right into firefights & then went into hiding 1/2 the time.

It really reminded me of the original Far Cry.

Try anything you want / anyway you want & then live or die by your choices.

I could keep going, but I'll wrap it up here - the games biggest weakness was the lack of incremental bosses & a final boss (lke you have in Wildlands). There wasn't the typical "rush" of victory for beating the game - even though you DID triumph over evil.

BUTT, in retrospect, it was a fitting end for this games whole scenario.

If you were REALLY a prisoner in a work camp, or a revolutionary, you wouldn't be fixated on finding & killing HITLER / KIM JONG UN because you would be so far removed from them it's just beyond your ability to hope for, so you would be focused on killing the endless stream of the constantly changing faces of your daily oppressors...

Yep... this game really made me think about this scenario.

I loved every minute of it.
