NVIDIA TITAN V $3000

I wonder if they will give us a few of these free. We have obtained a few previous generation Titans for our deep learning medical imaging research.

That limit 2 and fine print saying no SLI support is going to make a few people angry.

Kyle, after the review you could just send it my way to double check the results.
I doubt [H] will be reviewing it. [H] doesn't review cards that aren't marketed towards gamers. This is a professional content creation card.

Yes but also consider it's a 250W gpu not a 300W as the tesla. Also the tesla goes over 10.000$, This at 3.000 offering similar performance it' a bargain actually... you overclock the hell out of TITAN V and you may will be over stock Tesla V100.

I think it's a worthwhile price honestly... expensive for normal consumer, but cheap for the pro market.. great deal for tiny studios, and small businesses.
Is it going to have pro drivers? Me thinks not.

Fuck. My fiance's wedding dress came under budget by about $1500 and I just got a promotion at work... I'm really tempted to pull the trigger on this, it'd pair up nicely with the 8700k and NVME drive I just picked up.
Please do, I'd love to know what your fiance has to say about this :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::D:D

OMG, I really need this! My dual GTX 1080 Ti's in SLI can't handle Minecraft HD in 4K 120hz.

Good to see your priorities are staying in check. Grats on the upcoming wedding!

For gaming does this actually perform well, or is this for more computational related things?

you should expect about 40% to 50% better performance than Titan Xp it may be more depending on the game..

Might buy one for mining out of sheer curiosity as Vega became powerhouse after a few tweaks. Hopefully their drivers when using multi GPUs get fixed soon

$3000 seems a bit steep to me.

The last Titan XP was only $1200 and came with a free Lucasfilm light show.

This one doesn't appear to have any lighting....

It has NVLink support. You can see the fingers where the SLI fingers would usually go.

Nevermind? TPU said NVIDIA has clarified that it does not have NVLink support...
https://www.techpowerup.com/239519/nvidia-titan-v-lacks-sli-or-nvlink-support

Yeah, it doesn't have SLI nor NVLink, neither of which you need for AI, though more cards than fewer are still useful there for AI. It's not a gaming card. I guess if you want the fastest single card solution, and willing to spend $3000, go for it. If you want the fastest solution though, Titan xp SLI will still be the way to go, at least until the TI variant of this comes out next year.

Next day AM delivery is only $50

I guess if you've got $6000 to spend on GPUs what's another $50.

What's this limit of 2 crap ? What about those who wanna 3 way SLI with it ? Who is looking out for those poor bastards ?

there are no SLI tabs on the card, so there's that.

Indeed but it looks like you will get a full Volta, whether it is worth to the end user is another matter.

Not sure about full Volta (they gotta gimp it somehow), this thing costs well north of most new Quadro's, except top end model. Yet, this is not a Quadro. Absolutely insane price though and still only 12GB VRAM, HBM or not... Gotta love the gaudy gold color too!

How? According to wikipedia this is the 7th card to have the titan name.

GeForce GTX TITAN February 21, 2013 GK110-400-A1
GeForce GTX TITAN Black February 18, 2014 GK110-430-B1
GeForce GTX TITAN Z March 25, 2014 2× GK110
GeForce GTX TITAN X March 17, 2015 GM200-400
NVIDIA TITAN X August 2, 2016 GP102-400
NVIDIA TITAN Xp April 6, 2017 GP102-450
NVIDIA TITAN V December 7, 2017 GV100

Or was that irony, and now I'm looking like a fool for not getting it?

V for Volta not Roman numeral 5. The confusing part of their naming scheme was the fact that we’ve had 3 Titan Xs.

How do you see 3? There is the GTX Titan X, Titan X, and Titan Xp. All different names.

Kyle's quip is that the name is correct because 'V' stands for "Volta."

Man, I'm excited to see how this performs. I have a distinct impression that this will be the first card that can really handle 4K at solid frame rates. I can't really justify paying $3000 for a video card, I'd rather invest that money and buy the $1000 version in 6-12 months that will be 99% as fast. But hey, we all have priorities. Here's hoping they send out a lot of samples (and I bet they will, because I have a feeling that advertising is the #1 priority of this product).

Titan Xp is called Titan X (Pascal)

They probably figure anybody who's shit all stupid enough to buy a card without SLI connectors for an SLI rig deserves the stupidity tax.

Titan Xp is called Titan X (Pascal)

There's a Titan X Pascal and a Titan Xp. The Titan X Pascal is similar to the 1080Ti, The Titan Xp is the full meal deal Pascal.

Can't see them sending any to review sites given the price, was a similar situation with titan z, though that card was an underclocked turd to boot.

Congrats, you are officially a terrible person(tm).
Yes I feel so bad for pointing out that most decent neighborhoods have a homeowners association with covenants and restrictions that would probably not allow a sub $1,500 car to be sitting outside...

But anyway sorry if I offended any trailer park people...

Oh the old "I can't afford this, everyone that buys one is stupid" argument yet again. You guys realize you're not the target audience and that we'll receive other cards at lower price points down the line right? So much salt...

Those who have the money to burn should feel free -- they don't need my approval -- but buying one of these for gaming is kinda stupid. Most of the hardware will go to waste.

But anyway sorry if I offended any trailer park people...

No, you aren't...and that's the problem. :(

I'm probably wasting my time here, but:

I live in the metro Phoenix area. My house -- which is pushing 40 years old and is totally pedestrian -- still goes for more than a quarter of a million dollars. I drive a car worth about $2,000.00. Could I buy a new car? Of course. But I don't, because I'd rather put that money into my 401(k). Or use it to pay down my student loans. Or put it aside for my kid's college fund.

Your post rankles because you're mocking someone who, be it by choice or necessity, lives frugally. Meanwhile, the Internet is chock-full of those excoriating people for "making bad choices" for spending money (that admittedly they probably shouldn't) on things like expensive cars.

So if you're frugal, you're a loser, and if you aren't, you're making bad choices and deserve whatever you get?

News flash: That's reality for 90% of us. If that's not reality for you...great! It's just that being smug about it is a dick move. (n)

Even though this card is designed for AI Development, gaming will rock with this card with the unified drivers released earlier today.

Maybe it can run Crysis at 60fps? all high? :geek: Ok well I'm gonna go out this left door over here..
