Ahh anyone know what happened to nicehash? Seems to be down for
the last 4 or 5 hours.

Guess i better found a alt place to mine in the meantime

Nicehash is like a plague....
It just mines the most profitable coin and when all that hashing power focues on one coin it kills mining profit for pretty much everyone.
Also you earn more if you pick a coin to mine without using Nicehash.

Sure, you'll make more if you check for profitability every couple hours and switch up your mining accordingly (or have your own 1337 script setup to do it for you). However, if you're a more casual miner, it's hard to beat nicehash profitability long term.

Wow i hope its not true. They sort of where my primary plan for paying off my Rig !

Not up to speed on any other pools. I use to mine with Slushs back in the day for BTC.

Anyone have suggestions for a threadripper and 2 1080ti ?

Yeah, all my rigs went down at 3:37AM Eastern this morning. At that point, all the servers still showed "green", but by 4:00AM they put up the "Maintenance mode" page.

Had to switch them all over the mph manually and they are mining away again. The irony is that I had been on mph for the last 2 month and only switched to NiceHash Equihash yesterday morning, and less than 24 hours later, this happens. I had maybe $200 in my NiceHash wallet, so it could have been a lot worse.

What’s mph?

What are you guys switching to? Awesome miner? SImple mining OS? Minergate?

Is there a way to just switch pools using the nicehash client itself?

Hmm, so it's all your fault then! ;)

If you have a threadripper point that to any cryptonight coin pool. Mine some XMR or something.

I just emptied my nicehash wallet a month ago. Stop using nicehash 4 or 5 months ago. I mine in flypool. I use miner ewbf and Simplemining OS.

Pro Tip: Don't store your coins on any exchange, pool, whatever. Mine directly to your own Wallet or transfer to your own Wallet at regular intervals.

I was lucky in that i was using a external wallet. Unlucky in that i was due my second payout on the 15. I had
just gotten NiceHash setup with my threadripper on the legacy client and the Nvida stuff on the New beta client.

For me this is a bit overwhelming to set up all new clients. Pick a coin and figure out how to setup
new wallets for all the different coins... I guess ill be spending the afternoon figuring this out !!!

I have a feeling that Nicehash been getting attacked a lot lately and i hope they can recover from this. I really liked
the service they provided.

One positive out of this was getting my new heatkiller thread ripper blk redone. I had crappy temps before due to
a crummy TIM install :(. That damn blk is HUGE and HEAVY. like 2.3 pounds !!!!

No offense but you guys should have done this a long time ago. Just downloading Nicehash and clicking start like every kid with a gaming PC that saw a "Make EZ cash NOW with your pee cee" youtube, without bothering to learn the landscape of pools and the various commandline miners, is just willful ignorance.

The good news for anyone that has bothered to learn and setup manual mining, is that difficulty is down and profitability is up on many pools thanks to the Nicehash herd being out of commission.

Path of least resistance and all. I got a free afternoon to get it figured out. ITs a hobby to me not a
lively hood. I do feel for the guys that have 20+ gpu rigs though and now have to figure it all out the
hard way.

Hope no one lost much due to having a NH wallet.

P.s tks to all that have recommended other pools and mining advice !! Its been really helpful !!

I would think anyone serious about crypto-mining would not be using a nicehash wallet for for more than a couple of days at a time storage.

Who thinks this was NH scamming everyone? Or do you think they were hacked?

I think they (NH) are behind it all.

No. No way

They do 10 million in payouts per week and they make six percent on that. And that payout and user base is constantly increasing. Why give up such a revenue stream for just that (supposedly) 56 million dollars that is allegedly stolen according to the Reddit posts.

Started using NH about a week ago just for kicks and the system goes down right around the time I am supposed to get my first payout. And to think some [H] members were really pushing NH! Ah well, not much lost really.

I've made a good amount of BTC using Nicehash. They either fucked up with maintenance, were hacked or a greedy employee dipped with all the BTC. That doesn't discount that they were a good service for the past 3 years.

https://www.wikitribune.com/story/2...tocurrency-site-nicehash-may-be-hacked/26595/

WikiTribune has been in contact with NiceHash, which said that it is “assessing the situation and working with the authorities. We’ll issue a public statement shortly.”

Consider the source. But if true, "...working with the authorities," is never a good sign.

Figures...I was just about to withdraw about a week's worth of mining proceeds.

Apparently all the money was transferred to a single bitcoin address and moved out. That is why people are freaking out. $60 million gone if this was theft and not part of the system management or upgrade.

Stupid weekly payments, I had like $140 due, thankfully I was more focused on Eth, Etn, Zec and Monero.

Swapped everything over this morning since I spent all night troubleshooting Nvidias garbage cards..nothing like crashes due to only 4GB ram

If they get hacked, that wallet will be monitored like crazy, not sure what their plan is to get money is or imagine if bitcoin tanks and they just risked a massive amount of jail time for $60

Dear NiceHash users!

Unfortunately, there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website. We are currently investigating the nature of the incident and, as a result, we are stopping all operations for the next 24 hours.

Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken.

...
Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency.

We are fully committed to restoring the NiceHash service with the highest security measures at the earliest opportunity.

We would not exist without our devoted buyers and miners all around the globe. We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service. We will endeavour to update you at regular intervals.

While the full scope of what happened is not yet known, we recommend, as a precaution, that you change your online passwords.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are committing every resource towards solving this issue as soon as possible.

I think my .08btc is gone :(

Aye ... not looking good for the home team. Really glad i didn't use their wallet. Wonder if this is the end
of NiceHash :( ? How long before another pool of this nature pops up ??

I think there goes my $200 saved up to avoid fees. Oh well. maybe it will come back some day...

Shittiest thing is now I gotta figure our the more complicated and confusing ways of mining, nicehash was just so...easy.

Lost like $5 would have cost me more to mine to my payout date. Zencash all the way!
